shoot, if you think things are slow up here, dee is coming here and busting our chops, so things must be REALLY slow in texas.  either that, or he has the local coyote population in check for the winter.  lol.   :D

myronman, I ain't killed a coyote in two weeks. I killed a squirrel this mornin, but it wasn't a genuine hunted squirrel. It was in my pecan trees out back, and ole Huff was barkin treed when I got home from church. He had worked so hard at keepin him treed while I was at church that he was wore out, so I just gave the squirrel to him. It'll keep him dedicated. ;)
I ain't bustin ya'll chops, I'm hair-assin ya. I ain't got no life either. That's why we're all here. ;D

well i am glad huff's efforts were rewarded.  ya shoulda taken a picture of huff with said squirrel.  i bet he was awful proud of himself.  i get a kick out of the jack russells and if i were to get another dog, i would consider them.  they sound like tough little $#*!$.

regarding the other stuff... it is all in fun, i know.  i have got more than one chuckle off of your jabs on this thread.   good stuff.

Yea Huffs a squirrel huntin machine but not very sociable. I have a new Rat Terrier since our other "house dog" died and he's my everyday runnin buddy. In fact his name is "Buddy". I'm hopin he will be a good squirrel dog with a better attitude. Huff just don't like anyone except me, my wife and my mother. But he's a hell'va outside watch dog, and copperhead killer. He's not allowed in the house, and really doesn't want in. Besides he a klepto. You leave it laying and he will steal it when you ain't lookin.

Would someone explain how ethics as defined in the dictionary applies to hunting ? Please list the definition as it applies not what you think it says .
Definitons aside, ethics can be explained as "How will you behave when nobody is watching?"

Sportsmanship is a big part of how we defend and explain hunting.  Sportsmanship is related to personal ethics.  We tell the non hunting public that we have some rules.  We abide by fair chase.  We support renewable use of natural resources.  We use what we kill.

I don't think this applies.  I know

Sure.  Federal law says endangered species.  Ethical hunters want to fight that in court.  You just wanna shot them ****** wolves. (last edited by 379 Peterbilt)

ETHICS? Sounds like we have a petard member here. Ehtics are a subjective thing and there is no way to say what is ethical and what is not. Now I can tell right from wrong but ethics is a made up liberal thing.

Yes Billy, Ethics is a made up liberal thing.  It is what liberal folks (and most of the rest of us) use to decide what is wrong and what is right.  How do you come down on this question?

the wolf is far from endangered.  in canada, you can buy tags for them.  they are everywhere.   in fact, in wisconsin, they are everywhere.  and last year for a brief period, they were de-listed until some liberal judge somewhere threw out legal control measures because of his personal emotions, not scientific evidence.   just another case of a liberal scumbag sticking his nose where it doesnt belong.  it is o.k. though, as people here have had enough and are just shooting the damn things when the opportunity arises.

the system is rigged, and people that hide behind the "ethics" arguement have got their heads in the sand.   i'll be damned if i sit back and let one put-nut's emotions destroy everything conservationists have accomplished in the last 130 years.

I come down on the side of gut shooting the wolves and having run off before they die. Now I wouldn't do that myself as that would be illegal. But if I were on a jury where someone had shot a wolf I would vote not guilty.

mogwai is trying hard to get himself banned from this site. I'm inclined to accomodate him. ::)

I just figured out why mogwai is giving you guys such a hard time on this issue. He apparently works for the Wisconsin DNR.

I remember reading way back in this post about how Minnesota has way more wolves and that you don't hear hunters complaining about it.  Well guess again...

http://www.startribune.com/sports/outdoors/82752032.html?elr=KArksi8cyaiUo8cyaiUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUUr

They estimate 15-19 adult sized deer per wolf.  Now how many adult sized deer do you think they take down in may/june/July???  I'm guessing those little fawns are a hell of a lot easier to catch than the adults, especially when the snow is gone.

Interesting that Wisconsin will let you kill a wolf if you can convince the DNR that it attacked you, but if it attacks your dog, you can't hurt  the poor wolf.

I think that if a wolf hurts your dog and you DON'T try to stop it, then you are an a$$  whole, and you should stick to goldfish for pets.

It was the Arch Bishop that said it first really .
And it would seem if you were with your dog the wolf would be attacking you and your dog only tried to help you .

oh really?   another incompetent boob from madison that cant count?   the thing i love about the imbeciles at the dnr that are wolf advocates is the simple fact that their wages are paid for by sportsmen and women.   and after what the dnr and the wolves have done to the deer herd in wisconsin, people are not buying licenses anymore.   i used to buy a conservation patrons license as far back as i can remember.  not last year.  not this year, and not until there is massive change in the dnr as is.    dont think i am the only one.  this year license sales were bleak and after the year people that did buy a license had, expect huge decreases in license sales (i.e. funding for you folks at the dnr).

the problem is you damn fools have forgotten where your bread is buttered at.  how much does peta contribute to your funding?  how much does a wolf pay for a license to slaughter in wisconsin?  and, here is the million dollar question......  what do you think you are going to do after your job at the dnr is gone?  you are too arrogant to make it in the real work force.   you have no job skills that we need, and even if you had something going for you competition is pretty hard right now.   in short, you are SCREWED once your job is eliminated; and believe me, it is coming.  already facing budget problems, the service centers are working reduced hours.  and, after this coming year of bleak license sales, expect to see plenty of worthless EX-dnr employees in the UNEMPLOYMENT line.    ;D    i love it when a person's own actions come around and smite them.    :D
