I just figured out why mogwai is giving you guys such a hard time on this issue. He apparently works for the Wisconsin DNR.
[/quote]
I figured as much, OR, he was some bunny hugger, getting "his" kind of reality from the agenda driven criminal liberal media, while sitting there smoking his pipe with who knows what kind of ditch weed, wearing his elbow padded V-neck sweater, peering over his tinted round wire rimmed glasses trying to come up with witty banter all the while thinking, in his tunnel visioned mind, that he is better than us.
But seriously, this is typical of the arrogents of the DNR. Instead of taking the posts as constructive critism and at least offering a intellectual response, he took it upon himself to take it all personal, not right away, but, with no explanations possible to the questions and comments, he did what typical DNR would do and have done, verbally attacked, with no fore thought and definatley no direction. A leg trapped coyote backed into a corner has more class than a representitve of the DNR.
He had the opportunity to offer explanations to us, the LICENSE buyer, as to why himself and his employer, have decided to completley decimate OUR deer herd?. Why they decided to manage it, not as a renewable resource, but manage it for the almighty dollar until it, and, hopefully, them are gone because of it? Why do they consider the wolf as being a better managment tool than the hunter, a person who buys licenses, and help to, no, totally fund this mistake of a govermental dept. Yep nine wolves are still dead, here's hoping 10X more have fallen since this thread was started. CRASH87

I would hope the DNR follows some of this stuff.  They need to come to realize that the HUNTER is the dominant game management tool, not some effin Madison based bureaucracy.  It was the HUNTER that first advocated for game management.

That being pretty close to fact, note that the DNR is pushing to kill more deer, and the HUNTER is saying to kill fewer deer.  The DNR's "hard science"  continues to be LESS valid than our actual game sightings, yet they tell us we don't know what we are talking about.

It seems strange to me that they tell us to continue to shoot out the does, and at the same time they want to recruit wardens to catch poachers.   I can't figure out if they are speaking out of both sides of their mouth or if they just have forked tongues.   Probably both.

Game management needs to be done at a county level with the county determining goals, selling licenses, and keeping all the money.   Send the Madison bureaucrats and the wolves to Washington, D.C..  They will fit in well there.
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

jcn59 +1.

no worries,  people (like me) didnt buy a license last year, and wont be buying one this year or for the forseeable future.   they can want to hire all the new wardens they want; but when people quit buying licenses en mass, they will be lucky to keep half of the ones they have.

there is nothing quite as sweet as sitting back and watching a malicious person or enterprise's actions swing around and bite them right in the @$$.  it is coming, believe me, it is coming.

A freind of mine received a ticket for an uncased firearm in a vehicle. He had leaned his gun against the side of his truck as he changed his boots. The 100 dollar fine he paid will never make up for the thousands of non resident licence fees he would have paid over the next 20 years. He refuses to go anymore to WI. I am all for law and order but some stuff is stupid.

If you search mogwai's past posts he is sitting on the tailgate of a pick-up holding a slug gun. Probably could be in violation of Wisconsin law.

If people didn't have connections with relatives here, we would all bail.   Taxes to high, government too corrupt; the only bright spot is J.B. VanHollen, and he will start to smell in a couple years just like the rest of them.

I stopped buying an archery license here a few years ago (after just about 40 consecutive years,) and maybe won't buy a deer license this year.

I delighted in sending just about $600. to Wyoming for hunting license last week.  Hear that Wisconsin bureaucraps?  That's $600 you won't get from me this year.

If mogwai is sitting on a tailgate holding a gun in WISCONSIN, then he is hunting from a vehicle with an uncased gun.   Arrest him now.

he was here long enough to ATTEMPT to cover his tracks.  it is too late though, as i figured he would delete it and i copied it to a file for safe keeping.  it has already been sent to 5 wardens and a friend of mine that works for the state as a park ranger.

I just showed up just to show up. Actually I was born and raised in Wisconsin, and became allergic to sidewalks and fences, so I moved to Wyoming. Too dang many wolves there too. Judge delisted them, then tree huggers filed a suit, and back to protected status. We don't find dead wolves in Wyoming...... Jcn59, come on down!  Oh oh...someone's gonna get another new post notification. Soorrry.

the wolf is far from endangered.  in canada, you can buy tags for them.

I gotta weigh in here....greetings, guys!  I have been involved as a hunter in the deer mess my whole life here...sometimes at the short end of the stick. It all started in around 1986 when the DNR hired cull hunters to shoot and remove gobs of deer from vegetable farms and other over browsed areas.  Hundreds were shot every year.  Food pantries got most of them.  The sportsman groups went to the Conservation Congress, and Bonus tags were born.  We as in YOU and ME have been shooting fawns and does ever since. The Governor loved it because tag sales skyrocketed.

Lo and behold CWD became an issue....nevermind that it was started as a bovine overcrowding enzyme that got its foothold where the deer were feeding alongside dairy cows.  Ok...I know.....erradicate all of the deer. Isn't that what CWD is for??

Now....why don't we have any deer?  Now the wolves have a foothold, and the tourism lobby needs more deer tags sold...everybody is starving because of warm winters and no snowmobilers.  We (as a State)are on the wrong track fellas. I for one am voting with my feet.  Out of state and high fence hunting for me.  No more (my) ass freezing, watching red squirrels for nine days,  for an empty freezer.

I'm gravitating strongly to hunting out of state, supplemented by some out of state high fence hunting myself.

I might add that as revenue available to the DNR continues to shrink, other problems are soon to follow.   Our DNR has crowned themselves king of wetlands, (among other things), and here in Sawyer county they are staffed too thin to keep up with their duties and responsibilities.  It will only get worse.  Every 30,000 deer they allow for the wolves and bear instead of the deer hunters cost them about 3/4 of a million dollars in lost license revenue.  Watch as even more positions go unfilled, and the general public as well as the hunters get fed up.

The DNR has "bureaucracized" themselves into a hole and they are not smart enough to stop digging yet.

We are VERY close to a point where they will be inadequately staffed to protect the wolves and other predators, and then there will be real justice.  Wait and see.

Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Ground is frozen here Dee.  We need a good strong southerner up here to show us how to chisel through six feet of hard frost.  Maybe you could come up here & show us how you do it.  You'll need a long ice pick & a big teaspoon.

Too cold up there for an old southerner. I'd freeze up in the first five minutes.

Hopefully, we can find a tracking collar (just laying around in the woods ;)) to hook up to Dee's Jeep for the ride back to Texas. ;D

You'd better put the collar on the Jeep before I start up there. I might get lost, and then where would every body be?
Ya'll go ahead and start diggin the hole, and I'll be on up there as quick as I can.  ;)
