Zbigniew Brzezinski said the United States should make clear that it will attack Israeli jets if they fly over Iraq on their way to attack Iran.
“We are not exactly impotent little babies,” said Brzezinski, national security adviser during the Carter administration, in an interview with The Daily Beast Web site when asked how aggressive President Obama can be in telling Israel that a military strike in Iran is not in America’s interest. “They have to fly over our airspace in Iraq. Are we just going to sit there and watch?
“We have to be serious about denying them that right,” continued Brzezinski, who endorsed Obama early in the Democratic primary but was not an official adviser to the campaign. “That means a denial where you aren’t just saying it. If they fly over, you go up and confront them. They have the choice of turning back or not. No one wishes for this but it could be a Liberty in reverse.”

Israel is the major destabilizing factor in the mid-east.
When they dispose of their nuclear arsenal then maybe they can talk.
Iran did sign the Non-Proliferation Treaty and invites Inspectors from the UN.
Israel has done no such thing, indeed 'denies' it has the nuclear bombs everyone knows it has.
The hypocrisy stinks to high heaven.

Well, I do have to agree that planning to put a Jewish nation in the middle of the Arab world was an act of phenomenal stupidity in the sense that it guarantees perpetual conflict. They must have realized they were going to be in a state of eternal war.

I recently read a book about the founding of modern Israel and the claim was made that the would-be Israelis never anticipated more than slight resistance. I simply could not believe that.

The Israelis have agreed to many peace settlements. It is the Arabs that keep refusing to settle. The Arabs are the ones that keep going on the offensive by sending rockets into the Israeli cities. Then when Israel retaliates, stupid people claim Israel is the aggressor.

In my opinion the people living in Gaza and the West Bank need to be rounded up and put on a ship out in the Med, with the warning return and be shot. Then Gaza and the West Bank turned into new productive Jewish settlements.

The article is talking about American jets shooting down Israeli jets. We control the air space in Iraq.

Israel has freedom of religion, they do not try to change the Muslims and allow those within their territory freedom of religion. They have a western style government. Even their largest port city Haifa had an Arab mayor a few years ago. Would the Muslims allow the Jews freedom of religion if they ran it? Most of the Jews who settled back in Israel were from Europe, especially central and eastern Europe and were persecuted and killed by the Germans and Russians. Even Egypt doesn't want to take control of the Gaza. Isreal has asked them to to keep down the extremists. The West Bank was once controlled by Jordan. They don't even want it back. Why, because the Muslim extremists control the Palestinians now. They don't want the hassle. So, Israel being very small, with about 7 million people and more comming in from various places in the world need room to grow, so they build settlements in unoccupied areas of the West Bank. They have even paid Palestinians for their land and gave them money to move to other countries. Israel does destroy the homes of known terroists to discourage them from returning to terrorise again. Also, Jesus said that Isreal would be in the hands of the Gentiles for a season after the temple was destroyed in AD70 which He also predicted. He then said the Jews would return but the end would be shortly thereafter.

You and I just have a different view of "Zionism". I happen to believe you give Zionism way too much credit for power they do not have nor exercise, beyond trying to maintain their nation's sovereignty. I remain convinced that Israel would be content with their present boundaries but their neighbors refuse to agree.
Several times their neighbors have tried to wipe them out, but ended up getting their heads handed to them. Even after all those attacks, Israel was so understanding as to give back the Sinai and many, many square miles of land they would be entitled to keep as war prize for promises of "land for peace". The Muslims got the land but Israel got no peace; that is not opinion, that is fact !
Remember, the world insisted Israel give the Gaza strip back "for peace"..Israel gave it back...where is the "peace" ? I have no respect for a people who break their pledged word again and again.

Bottom line is, and always will be...Israel is a small spec in the middle of a large place that want them dead, dead, dead, and has said so openly. It's natural for a survival instinct under these conditions, and people can use all the fancy words they want and use history, rewrite history, or whatever...does not make one little bit of difference in what will happen. Israel will look out for themselves in the end and what we think means nothing either way. So why keep arguing about all this stuff. It is what it is. Personally, I think the Palestinians are muderous thugs and that goes way back to the bibical days....others may think, gee Israel made them that way...who cares. The Palestinians have chosen the worst of the whole bunch to represent them, you could not give the Palestinians enough land or money, they want Israel dead, dead, dead....and they are too stupid to build anything with money or land either way. Israel might as well kill them all as far as I'm concerned, they fact they have not done so yet is interesting, I would have long ago if it were my call. Along with everyone else who was a threat.
Good thing I'm not a world leader I guess...I have no use for the UN either.

Anyone that fires upon the Israel jet will probably find out that is not a good way to live very long either, sounds like a lot of talk to me. We'll see I guess. The bible says Israel will survive, so far that seems to be true. It also has something to say for those who would walk away from Israel, for those who practice that religion, keep an eye on those things. For those that don't it's just human nature to see a country in survival mode, keep an eye on that if you like. You won't change a thing by speculating on who are the bad guys here. Makes for good reading, that's about it.
What happened in the 40's the 50's the 60's....does not mean a thing. Who we think are our "friends" means nothing.
What matters is what it is right now. We have no control over what will happen next. We are weak from within our own country and have dangerous times ahead with a dangerous man at the helm and a corrupt Congress, so we have our own probleme to deal with. Our president is handing our azzes to the UN as we speak...we should be worried about ourselves as much as all this over there.
