I guess we are back to beating this dead horse again!

Good luck to all who attempts to build a superglue STUB gun. But PLEASE.....put something on it that says it is home made so that when your dead (either from another project or this one) some unsuspecting sole does not die from it!

Hofs will you please explain the physics behind your comment? I await your enlightened intelect

So what forces do we have that make this dangerous? Can you give me a equasion to eplain the forward thrust? From.what I could feel there was little or none. I was wearing a leather glove if that makes you feel better.

We have 1 a barrel made to handle the pressures of a 357 magnum sitting against and headspacer to a breach made to also handle the rearward thrust of a 357 magnum. Where and why is the danger?

I've built my share of AK's in the garage...which function flawlessly after thousands of rounds
I bet the folks at Colt wish they could say that about the M-16!!  ;)

Ain't that the truth. I was Unit Armorer in  the Army...working with M16A1's and then A2's...which is why my personal weapons are homebuilt AK's.  :D  Just fit my barrel last night, and have zero headpace on a sized case as you describe.  Trying to decide if I want to make it a bit more generous with a piece of clear tape on the back of the sized .357 case to account for slight changes in rim thickness/crud in chamber etc. Sort of an ersatz "field  go guage."  As a frame of reference, my steel frame .38 Special rotates the cylinder freely with 2 tape thicknesses and binds the cylinder on 3...and has less than 1000 rounds through it so no frame stretch.

To the guys worried about glue: Don't worry-I'll be using JB Weld--pure magical goodness.  Gladdens the heart and lifts the spirits of any self respecting Redneck.   Come to think of it, maybe I'd LIKE the Khyber Pass.  ;D

Good Idea.  I was thinking of  leaving amorphous blobs of glue, ugly toolmarks and sloppy fingerprints in the glue as a permanent warning to all that this was a Bubba, shade-tree, gunsmith job...or would you prefer I actually engraved the warning freehand with a Dremel tool? Y'see, I'm really not that good with a dremel tool and my handwriting sucks.  :D

I'm engraving on the barrel of my 357  "WARNING: ALWAYS CHECK MASKING TAPE AND SUPER GLUE BEFORE FIRING! IF YOU ARE UNSURE HOW TO PERFORM THESE INSPECTIONS, EMAIL MAGLVR FOR THE COMPLETE 612 PAGE SFAETY MANUAL!!!"

Well just my 2 cents. I have been watching this post since it started with great interest. The guys that built their guns did a great job and used their brains and hands to make something that WORKS!
All of the criticism from the posts seems to come from highly trained or educated people, while the praises come from folks with some common sense.
In the reality of today's world glue has become a staple. Even the windshield is held in place  in your car.
If I owned one of the "glue guns" I would :
A  Shoot it as often as I could
 B  Shoot it  more
C   Engrave a message on it  Stating :
MADE IN AMERICA ,CONVERTED BY AN AMERICAN, USED BY AN AMERICAN THAT THINKS FOR HIMSELF AND ANYBODY ELSE CAN KISS MY ...

just my 2 cents

 Great job on the guns

Jeepmann,
As a related aside...my old Jeep Cherokee has a brass CCV valve handcrafted with pride from brass pipe fittings from Ace Hardware.  Totally Bubba, and WAAAY better than the crappy, plastic OEM piece that shattered when I tried to remove it. It's amazing what you can do when you don't know what you can't do.

Oh Man, if that ain't the truth! Get ready to start seeing glue and tape used on things that will really make you shudder.  Anybody care to drive over the newly duct taped bridge?

"Obama Creek", "Dubya Creek,"  whatever.  I don't need an excuse to stretch my brain and create stuff.  It's just fun and keeps me out of the whorehouses.

I'm curious does anyone know what the the twist is in some of these barrels. I have a .357 blank on the way that has a 1" in 20" twist. Don't know exactly what I'm going to do with it, considering a stub project, even thought about pulling the twist out and making it a smooth bore shooter.
