A friend in need...
« on: September 13, 2008, 02:55:49 PM »
Long time since I've posted but I have some bad news that I thought I'd share.

Member here Badnews Bob fell from his deer stand this past Saturday.  He broke his back (L3), fractured his hip and has some internal bleeding.  He's going to be out of work for a good while.  The catch is he doesn't have any short or long term disability and I expect the bills are going to mount pretty quickly.  That life flight out of the woods probably won't be cheap.  I'm thinking about doing a benefit raffle here if the admin doesn't mind.  I just have to figure out what I want to offer up, I'm thinking maybe a custom 375 Winchester Handi barrel I had done up by Oregunsmithing a couple years ago.  It's the only thing I have left of my collection that might draw a crowd.  Just looking for feedback on how many would be willing to part with $10 or so for a ticket.

thanks,
Ian

count me in for $10 for Badnews Bob, raffle or not. Where can I send the money? Check with GB also, when we were giving a bit to help out either he or Matt set up something so we were able to send funds via Paypal as well. Unless we can just send a Paypal donation/raffle ticket fee to you...Best of luck to both Bob and you with this great effort as well....<><....:)

Sorry to hear that about Bob, tree stand accidents happen too often unfortunately, usually with terrible outcomes.  :-\  Bill needs to check in on this before we put anything official on the site.  ;)

Ok, if Bill will allow it, I am going to put up the 375 Winchester barrel and the Veral Smith mold that he made to fit it. 250gr WFN Gas check.  Hopefully he will allow me to cross post to the other forums and let it run 3 or 4 weeks.

thanks guys,

I can relate to your problem for sure. I myself have very bad back problems and can't get by without the Perks. I have to take two just to get moving in the morning. Dale

Update.  He thought his L3 was just fractured but apparently it blew out forward (to the inside).  He's undergoing some semi-experimental reconstructive surgery tomorrow morning.  His doc told him that only 1 in 10 qualify for this procedure but they had good luck with it.  The last guy they did this on was off pain meds in 2 weeks.  For now it's just a waiting game.

Negative on Raffles. They are illegal in our home state and thus I can't allow them on the site or the law will come down on us.

I have no problem with you taking donations but NO RAFFLES on this site PERIOD.

It is OK to donate an item to be sold in a standard transaction. Just sell the donated item and send money to him but it cannot be raffled off in violation of state law here.
