Enviromental regulations would not be circumvented as you put it... That is a ploy, and the only excuse the liberals could come up with to stop the bill. Probably will work for most, but some heads will roll for this. Why on earth would the do test drilling prior to a bill being passed??? Waste of money. Trust me they would have done the necessary drilling and testing to determine the extent of the ore prior to initiation of the mine. The DNR and EPA were all fine with the bill, the only thing that it did was speed up the insanely long process. Reduce it from 3 years to 1 1/2. Speed up government, wow what a travisty... Nice work liberals, you finally won a battle... Too bad it cost the state billions of dollars and thousands of great paying jobs..

The only good thing to come out of it, is that it probably secured Walkers job. Private union members are finally realizing that "their" unions don't give a rats azz about the jobs of their members, they are only a political pawn. I know lots of private union members across all trades and only one still buys into the union barf they are feeding them. And he is a lost cause...

Buckskin is right. They only wanted to speed up the process of the permit. Speed up government? Laugh my arse off! A little story here. I have land on the South Fork Flambeau river. I heard about the Ladysmith mine from 93-97. I was very upset. There goes my fishing! Walleye , musky went down. Catfish, sucker stayed about the same. Smallmouth and northern numbers went through the roof. Doubt it was the mine. Anyway When I heard what they pulled from that mine I thought do it right and go for it. They pulled 450,000 tons of iron ore. Much was so pure it didn't need to be refined. They pulled 180,000 thousand tons of copper, all kinds of rare stones, 3.3 million ounces of silver and 334,000 ounces of gold.... and the dems don't want to mine. A holes!! I can only hope the unions wake up and find what pawns they have been all these years. Almost all would be union jobs!

We will see who's minds were changed in a few months due to this unjust recall. Walker will win, and he will win everywhere he goes. He will lower my taxes and cut the crazy salaries of public workers and cut waste so my taxes don't get so high I can't live here anymore and companies might want to stay instead of get out of tax hell Wisconsin. If we go back to democrats more companies will see it as a hopeless state to work in. There is very good reason we lost thousands of buisness in Wisconsin. TAXES ARE TOO HIGH! If we go back to the Doyle/ union/ liberal/ dems we will see taxes rise. Taxes rise more companies will leave. Simple as that. Anyone wants to know salaries of public employees just type belling.com scroll down to state employees salaries and punch in your kids teachers name. You will be surprised that a librarian in a middle school gets 75-80 k including benies to sit in a quite room.

The national economy has now produced two straight years of private sector job growth

Though Wisconsin has had a net increase of 15,700 private-sector jobs since Walker took office. Wisconsin also revised it's December 2010 monthly Job figures. The revisions show Wisconsin had more private-sector jobs just before Walker took office and it hasn"t added as many as what the government previously reported. So despite the estimated increase the state has only seen a net increase of approx 9,100 private-sector jobs under Walker, who set a goal of 250,000 new such jobs in his first four-year term.

This is not just a Wisconsin issue , I find it simply amazing the push to give large corps even more huge tax incentives with hope of them creating Jobs in state, only for them to say thank you very much, pocket the tax breaks then continue to offshore higher paying Jobs overseas. Fidelity has done the same in Massachusetts as well , and left the state tax payer holding the deficit bag.

When thousands of higher paying middle American Jobs are outsourced , then replaced by a few thousand much lower paying service industry type jobs , states continue to compare these job numbers at equal weight. (preposterous)

Well tell that to the guy or gal who was earning lets say 40k and is now only earning a 20k because his higher paying job is now in China and he is working retail at a wall mart to feed his family all the while seeing is taxes increase to make up for the state shortfalls if his quality of life hasn't been affected by these ridiculous policies.

With huge budget disparities state corporate Governor puppets continue to receive nothing in return from the corporations they have served so well and so foolishly. Well at least when their Govt jobs don't pan out for 'em they can work in private sector for the large corps they so readily served at the expense of the common man. Quid pro Quo.

and the federal level is not excused either - 445 days since we gave these guys a second chance and not one Jobs bill has been passed. Not a single one.

That is a great question, and one that I ponder every day. The only thing that I can come up with is that the liberals don't care about anything but themselves. They use class warefare as the weapon (as Scootr does with every post) to create a dependant nation that have their hands out for everything. Why work when you can sit on unemployment for 2+ years? Why work when you can get a government check for doing nothing? Why buy a phone when the government will give it to you? Why work when you can get everything I need from the government? That's not what this country was built on, but this liberal movement is what will destroy us. We became the greatest country the world has ever seen in less than 200 years, the liberals will destroy all that is great in less than 20.

Republicans were for Financial Disclosure McCain-Feingold in 2002 now they were against
Republicans tout they are for lower taxes but only for the top % ( educate yourself on Ryan and Romneys proposals).

You do realize this whole Romney care / Obama care fiasco started out as a new republican idea?.
Our republican party was the first to push for the individual health care mandate .
If you think the party that touts small Gov't , then wants to intervene in every aspect of my personal life, my wife's health issues, and push their own theology on others is small and non-intrusive Gov't .. well again that's your prerogative.
If you think Tax reform means continuously providing tax breaks with our tax dollars to subsidize some of the largest corporations who are raking in all time high profits as a further step in the right direction - well so be it.
If you think fighting all these overseas wars and extending our military to become the world police as a superb policy - hey go for it.

Ill stick with Ron Paul on the national scene ,
and stand against radical agenda Governors like Walker at state level everytime. You can do as you please.

And ya know , all I hear from liberals is " tax break for the rich" Again, the top 1% wage earners pay 36.7 % of the federal taxes. The gov. wants to give them a tax break for buisness expenses and they get accused of giving millions away to " the rich" . The rich get tax breaks , yes, but the poor don't pay anything at all so of course the rich get the tax breaks. How can you give a tax break to those who don't pay anything?? Very strange accusations.

I don't want to say that the above is a lie, BUT, the Republicans were NOT "all for Mcain/Feingold" and even a glimpse at the facts would reveal this. For example, just take a look at the vote in the senate. Republicans voted 38 to 12 AGAINST Mccain/Feingold, while the democrats voted 47 to 3 in FAVOR of it. By a HUGE margin, Repubilicans were AGAINST it. Better try again.

Thanks for that. brings it all back round to ground level. I enjoy these debates as well as anyone else . But sound advice as what you stated always brings it back to the basics of what is truly important in life.

I went by SIU back in the sixties where my dad was installing water heaters in some dorm buildings(union plumber),was just gonna say hi and I found him sitting in his car drinking coffee.
nearby was a semi with a trailer load of pipe, but he had to wait for a laborer to come unload it.
when I left an hour later, he was still sitting.
unions cost us a lot of extra money. of course they do have to pay for luxurious vacation spots in the carribbean and payola to democrats.

So what happened under 8 years of Bush tax breaks? it created jobs alright ,just not in this country! Oh and by the way how were those tax breaks paid for? I f the republicans are on the right road for this country then how come McCain did,nt get elected ? How much of our paychecks do we want to spend on bombs?How did that work out for the Soviet Union ? Lastly its amazing to me how the republicans hate unions, they would rather tear down wages instead of trying to bring everyones up. It is a race to the bottom.
