El Confederado, I hate to be the one to break the news to you, but the war IS over, the south lost........ You are as much a puppet of the Federal Government as any other citizen of this country. You know what the REDNECKS say, "Love it or leave it". You sure as hell can't change it!

El Confederado:

Since this is the year 2004 and the war was over, over 130 years ago, there are no Rebels, Yankees or Carpetbaggers.  The South surrendered and with that, the war ended. Whom ever was in charge surrendered and that was it.  It is now all history.   To carry on hate in such a manner is not healthy nor a the benefit to anyone.

Dave ,

Who said anything about hate, I don't hate Yankees or the United States, hell I served in the Army, but I do love the Confederacy, I do love my homeland, I do remember the men that fought and died for her and if that make me and many other Southerners weird or radicals so be it.Just because we will not forget or forgive the things in our past as many Yanks do, don't make them right.

Sorry friend, but like some other posters here, my kin were squashing grapes, and NOT killing there countryman at the time! My interest is historical, and centers around the weapons of the war.

Talk about getting off-topic...Well, I'm an American through and through...While the Civil War and all it's history are fascinating to me I am not caught up in some South vs the North thing...To each his own I guess.

Born and raised in West Virginia, the state that basically seceded from the Confederacy. All my direct ancestors fought for the Union, so I count myself a bluebelly.

I had Great and Greatgreat Uncles on both sides, some are MIA,one died in Jefferson Barracks as a POW,and one in Andersonville, two came home in 63 to die at home.Never have we seen such carnage, even Peliu and Tarawa, and Normandy don't come close. Both sides suffered so much and it was almost 150 years ago and should be let go now.

To forget history is to dome one to repete history. Now useing your idea to"just let it go", the Jews need to just let the Holocost go, I mean it has been 60 years, Blacks and Liberals need to let slavery go, I mean it has been 141 years, that hole 4th of July thing, why bother, it's been 228 years,Vietman, hell forget it , it's been 30 some odd years, just let it go.Now I know your going to try and pick this apart, but we all know it is the same, the only reason why Yankees yell the old let it go stuff is because deep down in the back of their minds, they know they were wrong.

First, who said anything about hate? Your the one who said to forget, then in your next post you go right to the old hate stuff. Do they teach all Yanks this line in school or what?I never once said anything about hate, all I said in past posts was" never forget, never forgive", how is that hate, oh and Intrepid , the US never blamed the Maine on Cuba, they blamed Spain and history has showed the world the the U.S. was wrong.

As I said, I consider myself a Yankee but don't think that we should quit studying or discussing the Civil War. New information seems to crop up every now and then giving us a different perspective on many aspects.

Having said that, I can't speak for anyone else but with all due respect I don't think that the Union was wrong. As hard as the war was on the Confederacy, I think that a Balkinization of the country would have hurt both sides more.

See just my point, the Yankees stared us down the path to Liberal, PC, Socialist horse pucky, so how if you agree with that can a person defend Lincoln or the Unions War against the South?

William,
I am not trying to "flame" anything, dont blame me if there is no excuse for what the North did to the South. I was just giving my two cents, but I guess, if one doesn't hold the Federalist view in here anymore, either you or Ironfoot freak out and want people to drop it and move on.

Silly question in my opinion.  I don't think there are any rebs or yanks left.  That was a long time ago and a period that should only be remembered so it will never happen again.
I'm not a yank, nor a reb, but a citizen of the USA.  Good enough.

Gunbuster is right "it will never happen again". Never again will their be enough people to stand up against oppression. WHY! because the the peolple have been broken down and disheartend. Completly convinced that they serve this nation and are in allegance with it. Not vise versa. The power's controling today are stronger than the King of England in 1776, and stronger than the North in 1865. I myself would not take up arms against anyone, because vengeance belongs to GOD. He is the only one who can fix this situacion. I believe Daniel 2:44 will be fullfiled very soon!
