My riding is on standby for a day or two in the 20's to 40 with a wind. Let the wind lay a little and the 40's will be ok. Leather up with a baclava on the head and face and will be ok. Jump those short sleeves will cause a lot of heat loss and chill . Some guantlet gloves or some wrist warmers pulled up over the sleeve will improve the comfort a lot. The wrist warmers have a thump hole and cover the palm and are like a thick sock top put it on and put your regular glove on over it. Some chaps and flannel llined jeans are great for the cold riding. If I get a chill I aint having fun and it is dangerous because hyberthermia can set in quick on a long ride.

Jumpsteady, I thought perhaps I had an older pair of chaps that might fit your waist size but your going to have to chow down a bunch inorder for them to fit your needs. They are at least 6 inches to large in the waist and maybee 3 inches to short for your legs etc.

Helmets are a pain in the arse, especially in the hot weather but they do save lives by the truck load, according to the stats. Those half helmets are a joke! No protection to speak of and 90% of the time they come off if you hit the pavement. I witnessed such an incident 2 years ago down by my old high school. The guy was riding a new Harley and someone lost control of their vehicle, sliding over into him, causing him to go off the road and strike a telephone poll etc.  :(

I haven't had the Sporty out of the garage for about two weeks. We have snow on the ground here still, and Topeka has the worst street repair and maintance crew I have ever seen. It snowed on Tuesday and I still have standing snow on the street in front of my house. I live about a mile and a half from the state capitol building. You would think that they would actually care, but they don't. I'm going to try and get mime back out here in the next week, as soon as the street clear up a little bit.

For all you cold weather riders. I was given a flyer last week. It is for a Polar Bear ride on January 16. So anyone around Southern Indiana send me a note. I will get you the details. I mentioned it to momma, she told me to take her gel pad off the bike till summer :D

Once again we have snow on the ground here, but I believe that me and the boys from the American Legion are going to try and make a New Years Day run.

I agree pozoutdoors. We officially got 11" here in Topeka, Kansas. I haven't even tryed to open the garage door since before it started Christmas Eve. But depending on road conditions, I believe that my brothers from the American Legion Riders and I are going to try and make a New Years Day ride. I'm going to push for someting short and around town. I really don't want to have to put it up.

Just rejoined GB forum after several years absence. boy has it changed.  Last day I rode this year was the first weekend of December and only a couple miles to park it (90 suzuki intruder 1400- 82 1100wing) at the new place we moved to. After the first snow of the year here.  North of upstate NY.  Jim

Did 30 miles round trip but I rode. 39  degrees but it was sunny. It made the flannel lined pants earn their pay though.

 ;D Had to much to do yesterday , redoing the kitchen , and family was over the afternoon.  Woke up this mng. w about 2 inches of snow , so guess todays planned ride is off also. It is low 20's . Have rode every chance I get 100 plus a few a few days after the eastcoast storm dumped 6 - 8 inches on us here. Was out of power for a few days. 2 brother in laws almost 2 weeks.
  Temp is below 32 I don't ride . Don't grow hide like a 20 year old anymore.
Back then I rode unless it was a solid sheet of ice or snow , no more. Every little dark spot is hidden black ice .
   Will ride anytime it is over40 deg. with the proper riding apparal it is not bad on my 88 1500 , that knocs just about everything off you.

  -1 degrees here this morning. We won't be riding anything for a while. Several of us getting a batch of parts together to send out for chrome, and started putting on some of the stuff we picked up at swap meets last summer.

   New pup is all settled in now, and helping with the chrome front motor mount kit. She's the only one here who likes this kind of weather.
                   All the best in the new year;

No riding here for me either. most of the main streets are ok but the side streets are terrible, and I'm not even sure that I can get my Sporty out of the garage. And they are talking more snow for tonight and tomorrow. I cant remember the last time we had this much snow.

prospects of 6" of snow by morning and 3-8 tomorow.  3+ degrees now and 20mph wind. We usta love this too, but not so much anymore...  should be in the mid thirtys today......   SOOOOOO... for every negitive degree day I vote that Al Gore and his global warming theory, should have a thousand $$ penalty and pay this back to the nice NOBEL comittee?  Cause I bet we have more Neg days than positives before he runs out of money.
