None of the rounds mentioned spark my interest when paired with a lever action.

What WOULD spark my interest is a Marlin 336 with a half magazine and 26" barrel chanbered to 7-30 Waters, with Hornady LeverEvolution ammo or component bullets.

Since they've got the .308 Marlin Express already, I'll just go that route....

Or, mayber the .338 Marlin Express.......

What I really, really, really want, though, is not a NEW lever action platform. I'd like a new Savage Model 99 Featherweight Takedown in .250 Savage!

I just read somthing about the 450 Marlin and am suprised that Marlin has not worked to take the 450 Marlin and neck it down to create new flex tip lever action calibers from .411 to .308 and make a lever actions on the 1895 action.

.223 would be interesting. Have to use some of the polymer tipped bullets, but since I already load those, that would not be an issue.

They did make the .38-56 and the .40-65.

I stated something similar to this early on, but I'll say it again since I see a lot of cartridges that would be affected.

1. You are NOT going to see any high-pressure cartridges (.454, .30-06, .308 Win, etc.) in a Marlin 336/1895 action. If you want something like that, go with a Ruger #1 or a Browning BLR that can handle the pressure.

2. You are NOT going to see any cartridges that are typically loaded with pointed bullets, at least not for the tube-magazine leverguns. This eliminates most of the cartridges popular in bolt guns.

Wish all you want, it just ain't going to happen.

A LEVER GUN IN A NON TUBULAR MAGAZINE, HMMMMMMM, I am still interested, but more interested in getting to see the rifle.

I would still be interested in the 308 Winchester, and the 454 for sure!

Maybe flex tipped bullets IF they will stand the higher velocities.
