Actually, I already have a .308 lever action - my 88 Winchester, and it has done me very well.  I would like to see a Marlin 336 adapted to clip feed in .358....  I would not hesitate to take on the big bears even with that!

None of those calibers particularly interest me in a lever gun.  Calibers I would like to see are .25/35 and .500 S&W.

Tim-

Sounds like a Browning BLR.  Have one in 358 and .223 - both very nice rifles.

Tim,
Have you seen Marlins new and improved website? They are asking what calibers everyone would like too see their leverguns. So far 30-06 is at the top of the list.

I think Savage 99 left a void

Something maybe  based on the 308 case , not covered by the Marlin 308/ 338 . Then the 22 bore in a lever for coyote and a 6.5 something for mild recoil .

500 S&W Magnum would be nice in a Guide Gun.

The poll is to ascertain market potential for new chamberings in an all new levergun platform.

I've got 2 454's now but could always find room for another.  Have BLR's in 7mm-08 and 358 Win, the Marlin should be able to open up the 338ME to a 358ME pretty easy.  I know I would spring for one of those.  The 308 is always a good choice as is the 270 and 30-06.  The 7mm-08 is pretty popular around here, they sell as fast as they hit the shelf, maybe a 7mm-338ME would be pretty sweet.  I would also jump all over a 357 Max in a heart-beat as I'm sure many others on GBO would.  DP

A .454 would be great! I think a .357 Maximum would be another great choice.

I like my levers in traditional straight walled rounds. The bottle necks are to me rounds that belong in a  bolt with the exception of the 3030 and the .35. Id love for marlin to make me a 500 linebaugh lever or even a 475 but i know that it cant  be done easily in a 94 action so that makes it a 336 deal and they allready have the 4570 444 and 450 in lever guns that equal or beat anything that can be done by those pistol rounds. If i have to live with the longer action id just as soon have the longer case as it allows for lower pressures and better feeding. Now if i had to tell marlin to make my dream gun it would be a factory 50 alaskan. That would be a step up in performance for existing guns. I have a custom 50 alaskan but like the round so much that id buy another if they would make them at a production price. If it had to be a bottle neck in a lever gun make me 336 in a 25 caliber round that gave 250 savage ballistics out of a nice little 18 inch carbine. Preferably with an oct barrel but id settle for something on the lines of a guide gun. Make it blued and with real walnut as thats the way every lever should be made. A 454 would be cool in a 94 but you will never see that as the marlin action isnt stout enough to take the pressures.

I have a Marlin camp rifle in 9mm.  It's ok and I am aware it is a rimless cartridge but I would love to have a light walk around lever in 9mm.  Not needed just for fun.
