Ruger M77 MkII Frontier in .308 Winchester.
When an Army captain asked him for the direction of the line of retreat, Col Puller called his Tank Commander, gave them the Army position, and ordered: "If they start to pull back from that line, even one foot, I want you to open fire on them."
Turning to the captain, he replied "Does that answer your question?
We're here to fight."

Going to try and get into Goat and Sheep hunting, which I've never done before, so I'm getting the distance rifle.  Remington 700BDL in 300RUM.

I WANT a Browning A bolt Mountain TI. A short action that weighs 5 pounds and 6 oz. Not sure of the caliber. A Wisconsin white tail gun, maybe elk some day. Any ideas on caliber?

I wish I knew..... I keep looking, but nothing has turned me on all that much yet. Which is a sure sign I don't really need another one I guess. But when did that ever matter?

Not really "my" next rifle(s), but just ordered a pair of Stevens Model 200 for my sons 1st deer rifles.   One will be .243 and the other 7-08.  Will top them off with weaver bases, quad lock rings and redfield 5 star 3x9 scopes.  Trigger work to be done as needed.  Not a bad rig for a 1st deer rifle for a 10 and 11 year old........a lot more than the bringback 98k military mauser my dad put me into for my 1st.  Looking forward to them shooting as well as the Savage I have in .270 WSM.

:cb2: I keep going back and forth between a BLR in 7mm-08, or a E.A. Brown 97D in 6.5 BRM.

Today it's the 97D.

Next week it will probably be the BLR again.

Dang it, I know I'll probably wind up with both, someday.

I am buying a Remington Model 700 Classic 1983 .300 H&H. The rifle is in "as new condition". It's just in amazing condition!

The .300 H&H is a great, underrated, under-appreciated caliber that will do everything the .300 WM will do and exceeds the .300 WM with the heavier 200gr+ bullets.

It is a long bullet C.O.L. = 3.6", same as a .458 Lott.

Yes, I am one of those guys who prefer to stick with the old standards rather then chasing all the new-flangled calibers.

Well I have a very good condition BSA Monarch 1st Pattern in .270 waiting to be picked up and whilst I was odwn there last Wednesday I saw an Australian Sportco Model 44 target rifle in 7.62x51 which seemed interesting and I don't have a proper single shot target rifle so it may be coming home too.

Now your talking! After you get one of those, everything else will seem redundant, or at least very difficult to surpass.

My wife knew this, and she got me a 75 deluxe in 6.5 Swed. She knows that i am not going to get another gun that is less than what i have, and that i will not spend money very soon on anything more than that Sako.
I'm deadlocked and the credit card is safe.

Just ordered the Savage "package" rifle in 270 with accu trigger for $349 out the door. Will get it Tuesday. If it's as accurate as the package Savage 270 I gave my grandson 5 years ago, I will be very pleased. I have 2 Steven 200's, 7-08 and 25-06 that I really like , but wanted the accu trigger. Have one on my Savage 17 HMR and I really like it.

Some people must think that you are crazy, but I actually understand what you mean.

I can't tell you how many hogs I killed, and then about 15 min later witnessed them coming back to life!  Don't want to be around a pig when he comes back to life - he is going to be one mad mombo jambo.

As a result, I bought myself a .375H&H mag.  When I shot a pig with it, it didn't move...EVER! :)

So yea, even though most people think of a .458 Win Mag for use in Dangerous game in Africa, I don't think it's out of place hunting "dangerous" game in the US. :)

Now, I personally wouldn't buy a Ruger #1 (or any Ruger for that matter), but I would buy the cartridge.

As someone else said...a "beater" that you wind spending some time on to make it shoot a little straigh 'er...rough enough to paddle the pirouge with, let the wet dog lay on in the bottom of the boat, shoot the critter up close or not too far away in the muddyazzed creek& river bottom jungles and take to the car wash for the initial clean up. Was thinking about a Ruger 77 AllWeather LWT in 7-08/308/30'06 in a new gun or a M70 Wallyworld special that has been rustproofed...maybe something to leave under the seat in the truck. Had one in a Stevens SS/Syn '06  that wasn't terrible just not great with groups in the 1 1/2-2" range with a bad scope with paralax problems, and would like to find another one just like it for under $200 again...now that would satisfy my cheap side just fine LOL! You should see the funny looks I get at the carwash sometimes...no telling what I'm washing in the bed of the truck sometimes.
