there are much better guns out there than the 710 and are also cheaper.
Mossberg ATR or any of the savage look WAYYYYY better, shoot better, and cost less.
710 is just so damn ugly
looks are subjective, accuracy isnt(well not as much).
A few bad shooting 710s have gotten a lot of press, but there are a lot out there that are not only accurate enough for hunting, but some are sub MOA, yes you read that right.
Like beemanbeme said, its intended for those that shoot once a year. My cousin is that type and seeing as this is pretty much a Remmy family, he got one and with me shooting, its sub MOA @ 200 yards. Thats as good as some of my expensive dedicated long range tackdrivers.
Now...looks and feel. Feel is important and in this regard, I wouldnt exactly recommend one. Looks arent great either, but again, intended for someone whos going to hunt once a year and never see it again until the following year, so looks dont factor in to someone who would buy this.
They kick like Mules but that new R3 pad helps. And I doubt you could damage one if you tried, they seem to be pretty tough.
There are better choices out there, and even if a person isnt going to use it much, I say spend the extra $150.00 and get something a step up. But from the few Ive seen, the 710 is as capable of making something dead just as other rifles will.
Have a splendid day
