my first CZ rifle
« on: June 26, 2006, 06:43:19 PM »
Well not only my first CZ but really the first rifle that I have bought and paid for myself.

My choice, a CZ 452 .22LR with the Vamint Barrel, and mounted to it is a tasco 6-24x42 scope. I know the rifle is much better than the scope but my original budget was in the 300-400 range and well after a case, scope rings, ammo, ammo box, I was almost 800 CDN. So a better scope can come next year if I feel that i need it.

I should mention that this rifles entire life could be just at the range punching holes ( little ragged holes I hope) in paper.

Have been wanting to get back into shooting for a couple of years now and have been playing with some of the air rifles and pistols I have to help scratch the itch but the time has finaly come to get back to powder burners.

The decission making proccess was long and twisted, starting with a marlin 981T, then looking at the 7000, then back to bolt action again with the Savage mark II or the CZ. Well we all know how that turned out, after taking a close look at both of them the action on the CZ everything seemed to be machined as for the savage some parts looked stamped, also like the wood stock on the CZ and the way it felt in my hands.

Now I just have to get out and join a range get it sighted in and then start working on becoming as good a shooter as the rifle I have choosen.

Congradulations, I'm sure you'll find it to be a very accurate rifle.  Try the scope, you might be pleasantly surprized with it.  I have a custum Ruger 77/22 with a target barrel, I have a Burris 4-12 Compact on.  As I use it offhand 12X is the most I can hold and shoot.  May you enjoy the rifle as much as I enjoy my CZ 452FS.

Congrats on your first CZ - you have the bug now so you might as well just open your wallet and watch the money fly. Once you have one CZ you will surely start wanting more in other variations and calibers. I think you might be surprised by the Tasco - I have had pretty good luck with them. I have never owned nor wanted a high $$ scope, I guess I have just always had a hard time spending big bucks on glass when it could be put toward another firearm. But I have heard many say that once you have good glass then you won't want anything else (maybe that's another reason not to buy $$ scopes) ;D

Anyways, welcome to the CZ forum were glad to have you here. Come back and let us know how the rifle is doing for you.
