After reading articles and forums, I decided to try a CZ. Bought a new 550 in 6.5x55. Nice looking gun. I was impressed with finish and overall looks. Now to try the famous trigger. YUCK-about 1/2" of gritty take up to a 51/2 pound let off. Possibly the worst trigger I have ever had. Oh well, lets see. I pulled it from the stock, degreased the assembly, moly lubed it, set the overtravel, adjusted the take up and set the pull at 21/2 pounds. Very nice trigger now. Readjusted to 3pounds. Still good. Set trigger lets go at 14 ounces. Think I might be able to live with this. Now to get to the range and see how it shoots. If it shoots as good as it looks, there will be another CZ convert among you.

Joe- did you have a chance to get to the range yet? Do you plan to put a scope on it? Let us know how it did at that range. I'm curious. Tom Purdom

I put a tried and true B&L 2..5-10 scope on and boresighted it. Finally got to the range today. A few thoughts. These CZ's are pretty heavy. That, the stock design, and the Pachmayr recoil pad add up to negligible recoil. It is fun to shoot. Took two rounds to get approximate zero. Cranked off three rounds with the trigger unset. Shot a little fast. this hot Texas sun heated the barrel pretty quick. Had a vertically strung group of a little over 1". Shot my .22 a while to let the barrel cool. shot three more using the set trigger. Barrel still got hot, but group measured .885". Let it cool again, and tried three more, letting the barrel cool between shots. First two were .435" apart. Third went in second hole. This was using Lapua 139 grain factory loads. Hope I can get handloads to do this well. Thought I had some Winchester 140's. Only had one, so it made a pretty tight group. Overall, I am very pleased with my first CZ. I doubt it will be my last. I can see the set trigger coming in handy for stand hunting or Antelope shooting.

If anybody has any favorite 120, 129 or 140 grain recipes, I would appreciate it. Let you know how it likes reloads when I get some worked up.

My first and not my last cz is the 527 in 204 ruger. what i fun gun, when it first arrived it fed terrible but it was the clip. they sent me a new one and it feeds good but it could be a little better. it seems to get better all the time. using hornady 32 grain factory loads it is capable of very small groups. i actully put three through the same hole at 100 yrds. I have not been able to do it again but the gun could. the trigger is fantastic and the gun is a blast to shoot. this will not be my only cz.
good luck shooting and remember safty is no accident.

I can't remember the load weight but IMR-4350 only worked good with 120 grain bullets and Reloader-22 for the 140 grain bullets.  This round likes fairly slow burning powders.
I aim to please - but often miss.

i think y0umay find the 120's will really do well for you, don't be surprised if your groups continue to shrink.

i have only tried 120 Ballistic tips and 140 Hornady spire points.  The 120's hae a definate accuracy advantage so far.  I will work on the 140's as that is the weight I really want to shoot.  The 120's are stellar as to groups though, only have shot at 50 yds.  best is .24sumthin', can't remember exactly, but that was pretty common!  Not bad for an "inexpensive" gun!  Keep shooting, I think you're going to like it.
