I have set a Model 700 trigger, on a 1996 .270 Sendero that had a terrible trigger when I bougth it. I got the instructions of the internet; an article called "Remington Crisp" . I found it easy to do and ended up with a trigger ~2.5 lbs.
After setting the trigger I then tried to make the trigger fire by bouncing the rifle on the recoil pad and slamming the bolt shut hard and I could not make it fire "accidentally" so the sear is obviously very good.
When I was happy with the trigger adjustment, I used a small drop of nail polish on the screws to prevent them from moving, so hopefully my adjustments last, and so far I have had no problem.
