Thank you, Graybeard

I've lately decided to break down, and finally get me a side by side shotgun. Been wanting one for a long time. Living on a cop's salary means before a new gun can come in, an old one has to go...so I sold my 20 guage Remington pump, and my 12 guage Mossberg 835 pump. Before I found this forum, I'd already made up my mind to get a Remington Spartan (12 guage). I'd seen one at my local gunshop, and they didn't look like that bad a gun..for the money. Then I found this place, and found you weren't shy about what you liked and didn't like, so I started looking at the CZ's. I was in my gunshop again today, looking over that Remington again. Before I left, a nice looking side by side they kept behind the counter caught my eye..you guessed it..it was a CZ Bobwhite. You are right, Graybeard, with that CZ you get a lot nicer looking gun for just a little more money. Let's face it, one of the big reasons for owning a side by side is they're so pleasing to look at, so if you're going to get one, get a nice looking one. I have a question for you. I looked at the CZ sight, and they give the weight in Metric. Do you know how much the 12 guage Bobwhite weighs in good old US of A pounds? Thanks..alan

Wow...Thanks, Quick...I'd just handled that little 20 guage, and figured the 12 would be somewhat heavier, but 6 1/2 pounds will make it a featherweight for a 12 guage...BTW, my gunshop has the Bobwhite priced at $650. Is this a good price, or can I do better? I have an FFL holder if I need to order one.

You might be able to do a little better.  I've seen some claim they can get them for about $550 which is close to dealers.  The 12s are easier to come by than the 20s and the 28s seem to be the hardest to find.  Probably differs by area tho.  I have both a 20 and 28 Bobwhites,  I really like them them for the money.  I think you'll be satisfied with one.

I think $650 is a little less than I paid for mine. I'd say that's a good price for one.
