« on: February 02, 2006, 06:59:24 PM »
I've got a cheapo deercam set out over top of a 70lb deer carcass.I checked it last thur and the film was all used up,nothing hitting it but crows so far.I added new film and checked it again sunday. Now there were 10 pictures taken and the deer had been dragged about 30 yrds to the north further into the field. So,sunday i dragged the almost complete deer back to the area i had it in and set up on a slightly differant tree/angle.Now at this point some of the butt had been chewed on and the rib cage was exposed.Tracks suggest coyote.Good, thats what i was trying to get pics of.I already had two pics of a single large coyote in this field.Well,i went back thur this week and the deer was GONE ! WOW,i checked my camera and it appears like no additional pictures had been taken in the last 4 days since i move the carcass back.I followed a path of hair and small bits of bone for about 80 yrds across the field before i lost the trail.I then scoured the entire immeidate area for sign, found none.Okay fellas, question.Did these coyotes totally move this deer in some sort of joint effort or did a bear ? there is a small one working this area but i thought i'd be in hibernation.I just cant believe a coyote dragged this carcass off out of sight. What do you think ?
I suppose,if i go back sunday and retrieve the film, perhaps atleast one photo will show the culprit. The camera was set to take one pic every 15 minutes but i dont think it took any.P.S. yes,i tested it and it took my picture this morning so i know the batteries/camera are working.

Sounds like a deer carcass I watched one season. It was a spike buck if I recall correctly someone had shot and apparently not found early in the long Bama season. It was just off the edge of a trail I used to go to one of my stands so I passed near it many times during the season.

It got really cold that season and the carcass froze solid soon after I first saw it. I noticed little actvity at it for a good while but then eventually something started to feed on it. The feeding started at the rear around the butt hole area and continued inward.

Then one day I walked past and the carcass was just completely gone. No bones and darn little loose hair around other than right where it had laid. I saw no evidence it had been dragged away and know of nothing living in those woods big enough to tote it off. I thought it rather strange and to this day still wonder what made it disappear.

thanks graybeard and bulletmaker for your input.
I went back today and got my film, the counter only showed 10 exposed.Well,Wallyworld developed it and there were 11 exposures.Again, nothing but crows.
I had it set at 15min because i didnt want a whole roll of 24 exposures of damn crows..hahaha. But how them coyotes (or whatever) got that carcass away without a single exposure beats me.Oh.well,back to scanning for roadkills.

Any mountain lions in your neck of the woods?  From what I understand they will drag a meal off and cover it with leaves and other debris to save it for later.
My dad shot 3 hogs out of his deer stand during black powder last year.  2 of them fell right on top of each other.  Anyway we tied them to the truck and drug them down the hill and left them there.  The next day when we came back the largest one was gone.  This hog had to weigh at least 200 to 250 pounds and it was gone, no hair, no blood, and no drag marks (that we could find at least) other than where we had drug it the day before.  It could have been and probably was a cat but that seems heavy for a cat to remove without any sign.  Must have been a Big Foot

Well, there arent supposed to be any but people have made claims to seeing them in the Catskills here since the 70's.A friend of mine swears he saw one back in 1983 about 30 miles from where my cam is.I didnt see any tracks other than coyote but much of the ground was bare and frozen.

Hey shooter :D

I know what you mean by not wanting to waste alot of film on crows, but, your still going to have to set that camera on the shortest timeing. Yeah you will get alot of crows, but you might even have to check it once or twice a day, to see if all the film is taken up, but that`s what I had to do, and it took weeks, and sometimes months, but If finally got three pictures of bigfoot. It cost me a small fortune in film and batteries, and I got ton`s of pictures of oppsums, turkeys, crow`s, etc before I finally got bigfoot.
As far as what getting or dragging the meat off, that`s what your going to have to do. Let`s suppose that your camera is set for 15 minutes, and lets say crows set the picture off, then its going to have to wait and recharge 15 minutes before another picture can be taken, alot can happen in 15 minutes. for instance, out of 24 exposures on my camera, that was set to go off every 15 seconds, the picture before bigfoot was of an egret bird. 15 seconds later, bigfoot came into view. If the camera had been set for 15 minutes, I would have not got the picture. Good luck :D

Bullet maker,
you're right about all that. What i may do is put some good-sized logs/brush on top of the next carcas to deter the crows.

Up here, the prime candidate, especially considering how far the carcas was dragged, would be the black bear.
He'd bury it somewhere, and stay nearby, until he was done with it.
I've found where they have slept right beside a gut pile, to keep the wolves and coyotes off it.

Mountain Lion, Cougar, Panther, whatever name you want to call it by, can pick up a deer and carry it.  I have seen marks left only by dangling legs.  My area it was the smaller black tail does that go about 100 lbs and the cat just picked them up and headed down the trail.

IIRC, all photos are automatically copyrighted to the photographer.  As a PI, I used to work for the Civil Litigation Office of the California AGs office.  Some of my stuff ended up being used in court and I was told by the AG I worked for they were all considered copyrighted, so I had to be paid for their use.

Porter's Camera, a large mailorder company, used to sell rubber stamps you could use to mark the front or back of the picture for copyright purposes.  You might want to check with them, mark the picture if you are concerned and then you could sue anyone who made use of them without your permission.

Your right WmRoy :D I could post it on this site, and like you said --by morning it would be sold around the world by some computer nerd, :-D  :-D everybody would get the money and publicity but me  . Thats why I`m doing like I plan on.

But if anybody wants to come by and see it, their welcome to. After I get it protected, it will cost everybody money then. and you-all will say, (I remember that guy) :-D  :-D  JUST KIDDING. :-D  :-D

But I tell you--the way the judically system and lawyers are today, I wouldnt want to chance it until I got it protected.

Have you approached any tabloids??  Or even any monthly Magazines?

You could 'leak' the poorest photo onto the web and offer up the best 2 for an astrnomical price.  This is called priming the pump....  ...... you would be creating a hyped up environment into which you could sell the other two photos to magazines and periodicals.  Heck, once you 'leak' the first photo you could approach the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, etc. about doing a story on you and your photos......

The one thing you will not be able to do is make sure that 'nobody uses' the photos without you getting paid..... that just can't happen and you will end up just keeping them in a drawer and making NOTHING!  Always remember and never forget "Pigs get Fed, and Hogs get Slaughtered".... my Grandfater always said "As long as you made what you wanted out of a business deal, why worry about how much the other guy is making"....  Grandpa did very well for himself so I would suggest taking his advice, I have..... :D

I would suggest the following battle plan.........
1) locate as many crypto forums as possible (Above Top Secret is a big one) and as many crypto and bigfoot web sites as possible....
2) All in the same DAY, submit threads announcing that you will post to those forums your "primer photo" on Such & Such Date.
3) Send e-mails (on the same day as you submit the threads to the forums) to the various crypto sites (you may want to send a bogus e-mail something completely anonomous to them in advance just to make sure the e-mail address is correct) announcing that you will be posting your photo on such and such forums on such and such date........
4) You could even send e-mails to various science periodicals announcing the same...
5) On your chosen date you post your "primer photo" (the least clear of the three).... and include your contact info along with the fact that you have 2 more photos.

Now your 3rd best photo had better be good enough to get some interest, and you better be ready to be buried in an avalanche of e-mails and phone calls......... because there is someone out there who is smart enought to track you down.........

Trust me that if you are paranoid and just sit on these photos you'll end up with nothing........... think like a business man......... you are creating a market for your product and then reaping the benefits of advance selling.......

Good Luck!  and I can't wait to see the photos! :D

If i had pics I'd contact the Russians who are more interested in finding it for research rather than proving its real and then you'll get plenty of bigfoot hunters who will want to shoot one its either that or leave it alone and let it live too you don't have much of a choice.  All you have to do is to post pics with a location on where you got them and the media will swarm the place"this is a warming" we had one of the most haunted places in america closed to the public when a local radio station when there with a crew and crowds of followers who ruined it for us and now its closed to the public.  Somethings are better kept quiet.........

Mountainlions, Catamounts, Cougars are back and thats a fact.  They are throughout the northeast too.  They are very elusive and put their prey(deer) up in the trees for safe keeping.  Look up for your deer carcas too. The Catamount i have seen is between 180lbs to 200lbs and its a bout 6' long with a 3 to 4' bushy curled tail its no bobcat like some think it is.  My youngest son who seen it too is still shook up about it and wants no part of the place too.  I constantly see it often now too.

Hi WmRoy :D  :-D  :-D  :-D , I like your idea. 2 of the pictures are parts of the animal, such as one is of his leg---his foot up to his thigh, the other is of an arm, and then I have another of a red glow of something standing or walking by the camera, in the form of a big monkey, and the last one is of the female with baby over shoulder. Its the best one of all, will equal or surpass the Patterson tape.

I enjoyed your input, and will let you know by PM. Yes your right about not sitting on it. But unless, someone else beats me to the punch, which I doubt they will---me and Roger Patterson have the only authentic picture of Bigfoot on the planet. And mine being better than his, except mine is a simple photo, and not a movie film.

OK Bulletmaker...you are going to play hardball, aren't you, with these pictures.   As someone said, if they are legit and you keep them in a drawer, they do you no good, financially or otherwise.  You have been talking about them for years now and done nothing.

What I suggest:
I imagine you have all the docudramas from History and Discovery channels about 'Tracking Bigfoot' and the like.  Review them and write down the names of the 'investigators' and their academic affiliations.  These will be easier to locate than the producers or directors.  These people may not be true believers in bigfoot but they are true believers in the money that making a documentary brings in.

Contact them and say you set up a deer cam and have photos which seem to show a simian of some kind and since there are no wild gorillas in Oklahoma, they might be bigfoot. maybe send the lowest grade picture as prooof you have something and tell them what the other pictures show.

If they contact you back, set up a meeting and bring your other pictures.  Indicate you would be willing to sell them for the right price and would be willing to assist in an 'expedition' to where the pictures were taken, as long as you are given an acceptable fee as a consultant.

If they think there is money in this, they will snap it up and your mug will be on nationwide TV.

Alternatively, contact the Enquirer and tell them what you have.  They have so many obviously phony cover pictures that a real one may picque their curiosity and their pocketbook.  These rags do have deep pockets for anything which will sell  more magazines.

Go for it, you have nothing to lose and big $ to gain.

You know all you  have to do is put a copyright symbol or write copyright 2005 photo by so-n-so over the photo, stop making excuses and lets see these pics you have been bragging about for far too long.Unless the photos are legitimized by some kind of scientific proof they are just that,a photo, and by all means worthless,Im pretty good with photoshop Ill bet i can whip somthing up that looks just as good as the crap you see on the cover of ther tabloids, and i could copyright it as well.

Well if I put copyright over the photo you couldnt see the whole photo, right, or that is you couldnt see the fine detail, I would think, now thats just me, or unless the copyright was down in the corner, I dunno, thats why I`ve got to get some professional opion. But thanks for the offer.
