A group of fellow bigfoot hunters/researchers are planning an expedition in the North East for the Early Spring.  While I cannot divulge the location sufice it to say this is some prime bigfoot realestate.
I plan on carrying a bolt action rifle cambered in .35 Whelen shooting 250gr Hornady Bullets.
Others on the trip are still debating on their gun selection and I was wondering what any of you would suggest they take.

We know the buck bigfoot can reach upwards of 1000lbs.  So we want to maximize penetration with reliability.

God Bless and keep searching.
Hatchet Jack.

OK I have to say somthing about this one, your going onto the woods trying to kill this "mystical" animal that has eluded science? You are taking a rifle into the forest looking for a man shaped being that may exist?Dont you think that if there were a yet undiscovered spcies of primate living in North America it would be highly illegal to search it out and kill it?Please let us know when one of your "hunters" gets shot in a mistaken identity situation,I think you owe it to the people of the United States to let us know exactly when and where you will be "hunting" so we can avoid those areas for our own saftey!!!!!

At very close range, during my encounter, I was carrying a 4-inch .44 Magnum, loaded with 240 gr. JSP's.  My first reaction was........"I don't have enough gun here!  I had, and still don't have any ambition to shoot one.  I did at one time, but my encounter changed that.

My gut feeling is that if you encounter a squatch, you will not want to shoot it.  Don't get me wrong, the pucker factor will be high, and you will damn well be afraid, but your attitude will change in ways that I cannot explain.

Obviously a self defense situation will be very different.  If your intent is to harvest one, my hat's off to you, but I cannot in good conscience recommend a rifle.  If I had the room to carry a shoulder fired defensive weapon on a research expedition, it would be a short barreled slug gun loaded with 3-inch Brenneke slugs.

First remember what the indian said on the bigfoot show in oklahoma they have special powers.

If i was going hunting for one a 338win.mag or 375 H&H would sure be my choice. For sure 4,000ft.lbs. or 5,000ft.lbs will set him down. I put blackbears in the air. But i would never hurt one because their like us, their smart and probably smarter than us to stay out of our way for so long.

I know were your going too in Mass. its the Bridgewater Triangle? YUP heard all about it lots of different weird stuff going on there besides bigfoot too. Like UFO's and witchcraft too besides bigfoot sightings.  Its a busy place?  From some of the stuff i have read don't venture out alone.

I would be careful.  Chances are the bigfoot you shoot at will shoot back.

QUOTE;  Beaware what you seek you just may find more than you wanted.....maybe you want to know or maybe you don't want to know about it?  There is some unexplained crap going on in your own backyard....

http://revelation13.net/swamp.html

Also just for ha, ha's write down some of the names of these towns then go to the bigfoot reporting sites and see if there any reports on these areas of sightings you just maybe surprised.  I believe one of the areas is where a patrolmans car was picked up by the rear end by a bear like looking beast.......yup researched it many years ago....

If you would like more info do a search for "bridgewater triangle"  (MASS.)or "bennington-triangle" (Vermont) there's more stuff.  There seems to be an activity in these areas.  Let your quest begin enjoy.....

That's really interesting! May I add that my cousin recently moved to New Jersey for awhile and I was talking to her a while ago and I brought up the Jersey Devil. I believe there is something just because who am I to say that all the people who have seen it and had encounters are liars? well anyhow she was saying that the people that live in New Jersey (im not sure where exactly she lives) most of them firmly believe that there is something out in the pine barrens area. Just wanted to know what u think about it or if youve heard anything

You shoot at one, you will be lucky to get out of the forest alive.......Might wanna do a bit more research before you go trying to kill the most dangerous, " game animal" on earth.......less they find your rifle twisted into a U shape and your body plastered all over a bunch of trees......

Points to consider...

*They have been reported to sometimes travel in small groups. You shoot one, the rest of the clan could play "pop the wishbone" with you.

*What are you going to do with it if you manage to shoot one? What laws could you be violating? Will some authority sieze the body and refuse you any claim to it?

Good luck to you and your friends. Be safe and 110% identify your target before you shoot.

Forget the clan......... what if in your excitment you only wound it..... it's going to be far smarter than any other dangerous prey...... could get away and double back on you!!!

Personally, I'd have a real hard time shooting one............

Yup, I think you had better rethink shooting one. They have had many opportunities To attack and kill a human being but that hasn't happened yet not to mention what game law violations you may be charged with. :D

That`s not entirely true Nightrain52-----Read the one Teddy Roosevelt told, also,if their are and their has been---someone killed by a Bigfoot, who`s around to dispute it. Their is just a dead body.Bring`s me to a story, told of a Bigfoot murder around 1904, down in East Texas, Happend that a family had moved into that uninhabited part of the country and instantly started haveing night raids by a big hairy monster on their chickens. The father gave chase one moon night, and never returned. Now they found him the next day --dead
sheriff was called, and ruled the death an accident. Now the boy told anyone that would listen, that it wasnt an accident, his dad was broke in half, like someone had picked him up and slamed him across something like a tree limb. And their are many more out their.

Of the many hunt forums I frequent, it is very common to see bear defense thread appear seemingly every week. But I gotta say, I aint never seen no  "Buck bigfoot" defense thread. I will reserve judgement on the mighty bigfoot outta respect for those who believe, but some of the replys in this thread have me rollin' on the floor. :-D  :)  :-D  :)

Sounds to me like the miners got what they asked for. To arbitrarily shoot at the "apes" just because they were watching them, I would probably attack too.

Why would it be Illegal to hunt something that is not real ?
As long as someone is safe in doing it I have no problem with them carrying a fire arm while in the woods. Now if they start shooting at sounds or shadows then I have a very big problem with it.
As long as they are clear in what they are shooting at I see nothing wrong with it at all.

Without a Body they will never been known as real and also never protected the way they should be. I really believe that the body will come from someone hitting one with a car or something, Or a hunter that kills one. But until that first one is gotten some how I see no problem at all with people trying to be the one to kill one. Now after that first one I do not think any others should be harmed.
And as far as someone in a fur suit getting shot, I say they got what they asked for if they go out into the woods in a fur coat.

Why would you want to kill the most elusive and rarest animal on the planet, unless it was a self defense situation I would never consider taking a shot at an animal like this if I came across one.
