Yes there are bears in the Bush Hill area. However I am not sure on there numbers. I guess the closer you get to the PA border the more bear there are. So I'd look consider going to a state forest land near a the border and proably close to the Alleghany state park since bear hunting is not allowed in the park and the population in that area is pretty high. With that in mind there is the South Valley State Forest lands which are just across the Alleghany reservoir from the park. Also there are a quite a few state forests with in a very short distance of the park including Bucktooth, McCarty Hil, Dobbins, Elkdale, Windfall and Nine Mile Creek. I hope that helps.
