Somehow I've ended up with six barrels... now how did that happen!
I wanted a Contender badly, and the first one I saw had a 45 Colt on it. So I bought it, not knowing that it wasn't a 45/410, which is what I really wanted... plus, it was the old "hard to open" frame. oh well, live and learn.
Then at a gunshow, that Super 14 223 looked so good on that "easy open" frame I wanted, and the TC scope just added to the appeal, so I bought it. Added a custom 10" 410 barrel as well.
Then I decided I needed a 44 Mag. I bought an old Octagon. Put 10 rounds through it - Ouch, it took my thumb off! OK, chalk that up to a learning experience.
Then I thought that a rifle would be cool, so I bought a composite stock, and a 21" 30-30 barrel. Loved it!!! It will be my deer gun for the fall.
Then I found a Super 16 223, been slapping jackrabbits with it for two months, and loving it. Got some great loads, and there's a ton o' jacks around here. I think perhaps the S14 will have to go!
Just checked my draw results, and I got an Elk tag for the fall (in Wyoming). I don't have a Contender barrel that's appropriate for that. I wonder if my Ruger Model 77 Mk II 30-06 is good enough? Just kidding -- I've got some nice 180 grain Partitions loaded up and its all sighted in.... too bad Elk season is still 7 months away!
May be I need an Encore with a 300 Win Mag barrel... oh. stop it!!!!
