I have carried a Glock 23C for CCW for almost 5 years now. Some claim the "C" (Compensated) is not a good gun for personal defense carry, but I disagree after carrying and practicing with it for almost 5 years now. The main reason I chose the 23C model is because of the faster recovery from firing multiple rounds. The main feature I like about the "C" model is that the "hotter" the round you use, the greater the effect the "Comp" has on muzzle climb and recovery. I have fired it at night and the "muzzle flash" is not BLINDING, as some seem to claim it is. I've even thought of ways to use it to my advantage should I ever become involved in any attempt to disarm me by physical struggle for its possession - nothing like a "flash" in the bad-guys face to give him second thoughts about it, but that would probably be the least of his worries once he released his grip on it or my hand/arm.
I use the Corbon 135gr +P in .40 S&W for my personal defense and CCW rounds. They are one of the "hottest" rounds available in .40 S&W and have a good law enforcement record of "Stopping Ability".
I also have a Ruger KP91DC in .40 S&W and it is also extremely accurate, but I prefer my Glock 23C for CCW carry and general shooting. Its recoil is "sharp and snappy", yet not as strong as the .357 you're probably use to using. If you shoot the .357 well, then the Glock 23 will BE A PLEASURE TO SHOOT in comparison. I hope this info has helped you.
