I have no experience with Shaw Barrels, although I have heard conflicting reports about quality and service from people that have bought barrels from them, to be honest I dont think there is a barrel company that everyone is happy with 100% of the time. Too often the bad experiences is all you here, mad people are most likely the loudest. With that said, here's my 2 cents; Douglas Barrels are reasonably priced and the quality is high. Last year I bought the Douglas XX Premium/Chrome-moly in a 22", #3 contoured barrel for a Rem. 308 custom rifle. This gun consistantly shoots .4s or better(3 shot groups @ 100yds.) with its pet hunting load. Needless to say I'm very happy with Douglas. Another company with a very strong following is Pac-Nor Barrels, their Super Match grade is said to be the way to go with them. Check prices, not only barrels but the gunsmithing services as well. Sometimes the cheapest route in the beginning is not the cheapest at the end. Do your homework and you'll end up being satisfied with the end result. Oh, I almost forgot. Don't forget to ask about their turnaround times, some 'smiths and barrel makers may say 8-12 weeks up front and really mean months. This situation can make you wish you would've spent more money with another barrel maker. Good Luck and Good Shooting!
