I am saddened to hear that, Lloyd. My experience with DeWalt has been good, however I have never had to apply for a warranty.

My most used DeWalt product has been my angle grinders. I have a couple other brands, but prefer my DeWalt. They are all corded models.

A couple years ago my son bought me a Rigid brand, battery powered drill/impact combo, which I am well pleased with..

I've had better luck with Milwaukee tools. Only Dewalt I ever had a problem with, not sure if it could really be called a problem. Before I found a guy that could laser cut my steel out for targets, I use to cut them out with a torch, and grind the edge's smooth. Used a DeWalt 4 1/2 angle grinder, that spun at 10,000 rpm. Wore out after 8-9 years, figured out the brush's were shot, so bought a Milwaukee, still runs good. But only used it for a couple years and went with the laser cut.

I have little personal use for hand tools of the sort you guys are talking about. I do have hand held cordless drill somewhere around here, no clue where to find it which shows you how much I use it. Mine is a Black and Decker, Cheap but does what I need and just buy another when it dies.

Matt on the other hand has all sorts of battery powered tools. I think all of his are Dewalt. I don't use them enough to spend that kind of money on one.
