..The price of eggs..my view..
« on: February 28, 2025, 04:10:57 AM »
The Biden administration seemed to be full of dirty tricks which they pulled while leaving.  You have heard the story about "t0ssing gold bricks off
   the Titanic" haven't you?

  https://blog.independent.org/2025/02/20/bureaucrats-tossing-gold-bars-off-the-titanic/

Looks like they killed millions of chickens late in Biden's term, so as to raise the price of eggs..so they had something to "crow" about !

Well; I and others see the slaughter of millions of chickens ..because of bird flu..as just another manifestation of the "gold bar" trick.
since the killings were ordered by dept of ag IG Phyllis Fong..for Dec 2024 and Jan 2095.

If you recall, Phyllis had to be evicted from her office by the Trump administration.
   https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jan/29/usda-inspector-general-phyllis-fong

So, was it really necessary to kill millions of chickens?

Think a bit...Bird flu can infect ALL species of birds... so, if bird flu is so contaigous as to require killing so many domestic chickens, then why don't
we see whole flocks of crows, sparrows, pigeons, ducks, geese and quail, lying dead all over the place ?

You have a valid point about not seeing whole flocks of wild birds dead.  But I suspect the mass chicken killings are more to prevent the spread of the bird flu to humans, which can be passed through eggs.

Just my suspicions.....Roger

Or breasts, thighs and drumsticks.  Nor has the prices escalated much, either.

Looks to me to be not much different than the covid-19 fiasco. Best I could find at this time, 1st. March, 70 people in the entire country have been found to have bird flu, nobody died, systems are pink eye and nausea.(I always called that a hangover). Not sure what site, but there was a video out a few days back, amazing that the price of eggs in other country's hasn't changed all that much.

If you noticed a few years back prices were $4 and stores didn’t sell many so prices dropped, they rolled that out a few times (conditioning), now close to $7 a dozen here. I paid 4.50 for my last dz and only buy when necessary. Prices will drop butt, I doubt we’ll see them for under $2 a dz anytime soon. Also, our dollar has taken a big hit from the printing press.

I agree if bird flu is killing chicken or they need to kill thousands of chickens, because one bird was infected buy it. Why hasn't the price of chicken gone up like eggs has? Just last week at walmart the coolers were well stocked with all kinds of chicken parts, and with the same price as 3 or 4 years ago. While a dozen of jumbo eggs were $6.82. Something else is going on with egg prices, besides bird flu.

As do I.  A little "flock" of four in my backyard keeps me in just about the right amount of eggs.

Just more of the left's "feel good" legislation, along with rules and restrictions..rules and restrictions..levied by another apparent lefty control freak !

Just grasp that... the lefties feel bad about chickens being kept in small cages, but if some confused woman wants to kill that little boy or girl

..And that is just one of many reasons why the leftists finally got hammered in this past electioon.  ..But will they learn ?

Fact is, I hope they don't learn, since conservatives will need about 3-4 administrations in a row, just to fix up what the left has thoroughly
  screwed up !

I went with my son to a suburb north of the city, on a photo shoot !  While there, we stopped at a Trader Joe's store.

Now, I believe Trader Joe being a California based corp., I was surprised to find one about 60 miles from my house, but I found their eggs at $3.49 a
   dozen..so I picked up a dozen.

..Looks like ouir new Dept of Ag director....is getting things squared away.

Had a conversation yesterday with a guy I know. Talked about this very subject. When I mentioned that this bird flu thing is probably made up, as the price of meat,(chicken) hasn't gone up any. His reply, well, they keep the egg layers away from the meat chickens. I was going to ask why then have all the egg chickens in multiple states all been affected, but not the meat chickens? Or, if you check, none of the price's in Canada or Mexico for eggs have gone up. But, figured it would be a waste of time.

I think it is obvious by now, that slaughtering millions of chickens may well have been just another manifestation of Trump derangement syndrome.

The American Journal of infection control says this ..."t is not a blood-borne pathogen; therefore, handling eggs poses a low risk for infection. The U.S. Food and Drug Administrations says that there is no evidence that anyone has been infected with the avian flu by eating properly cooked eggs. Cooking eggs to 160°F (71°C) will kill the avian flu virus."

No need to kill flocks, but just the normal warnings to COOK EGGS..

Interestingly, as myself and others pointed out before, we see no flocks of dead geese, crows, sparrows, cardinals or owls...not even any
    more than usual..

Plus; Although the most recent avian flu outbreak occurred in march 2020, the great kill off didn't take place until December 2024 and January
2025, partly after Trump was elected president, but before his new director could be appointed.

To just kill off any flock that has a couple flu victims, would be silly. We know that such a flu cannot be spread through properly cooked eggs,
common sense would be to allow herd immunity to build up, negating the need for continued immunization or killing by millions.

$ 3- 4 a dozen for Farm Fresh

Funny... The price of chicken/yardbird meat has not gone up. You would think it would, wouldn't ya??

Also, funny. No troubles with this Poultry crap in Canada & Mexico... They are doing just fine.

Research it yourselves.

Imagine that..,

Yeah; we (the wife and I, when she was alive) kept a few chickens, and if I were truly anxious, I could go to the local Amish and get  some eggs.

I haven't checked, but suspect their eggs will be priced somewhere in mid range..as they stay informed as to the current prices.

Other local flock keepers would be about the same.
My grandson & wife have a small flock, but with a family of 6, they use quite a few themselves and it seems that in their extended family, somebody
else usually needs some, so I don't ask, but only accept when offered.
