Well, I just finished a couple dozen grape tomatoes in ranch

     Every thing in the garden is late, very late , this year.
     Tomatoes are finally ripening after hanging on the vine in green state for a long, long time.  Normally i get multiple clusters of tomatoes but this year it is one and done.

     Sweet corn, up North is just starting to form cobs; I have two weeks to for them to ripen as freezing temps are forecast for last week in Sept.

      Broccoli is finally producig heads, and those are one and done, while what I thought were Collards, are actually  cauliflower but producing very small heads.  I have never seen cauliflower with leaves standing straight 3 ft high.
       Onions are done, the few I got and  carrots are doing OK but some are still only 3 inches high.

       Squash was planted late and those are the only thing that is  not   producing late, actually they grew vigorously this year.
        Cucumbers are producing a few here and there but doing pretty well; I may get enough to make two jars of pickles.
     
        A very good year for rhubarb and most stalks are still standing tall.

For me gardening is a gamble, my grandfather’s skill’s were lost on me. I still make my attempt’s and usually somewhat succeed and sometimes do great although I don’t know how or why. I learned how to deer hunt from him through his stories, he was a fine storyteller. I killed a deer on my first attempt using his advice, it surely hasn’t always been that easy.

All of gardening plans for 2025 never took root (pun intended), as did my 2024 garden plan. They remained in my head with zero action due to my laziness. Next year I'm gonna do better.

Well our garden plans got called off due to a stroke I sure do miss picking maters and blackeye peas but I am studying on a Fall garden,I just need to get my fence up around the garden area to keep the deer out so they don't eat everything down to the gtound. Going to study on a possible fence the next few days .and see what I can figure out.

I'm in the process of putting down landscaping cloth and pea gravel in all of Lindas flower beds except the one in the front yard. I feed minerals to my cattle in white plastic tubs mixed with molasses, and she plans on setting some of them around the house and putting flowers in them. At 80 she is slowing down and they will be easier to tend to.
That's what I'd planned to plant my garden in so maybe it'll motivate me helping her.

      I still have one cluster of carrots in the ground in one garden, every thing else is pulled out.
      Now I am getting ready to cover the roses for winter, but leaves are just now starting to fall en masse so I still have to bag  up a couple dozen bags.

Planted a bed of garlic last week. Have had a couple hard frosts here. The hot and sweet peppers were the last thing I was still picking up until a week ago. Now they are finished. Pulled out all the tomato plants, and pepper plants. Now have a bare garden until next spring.
