Well, I'd been watching for his posts on the religious forum, and there hadn't been any.
Hope he's ok.

Just got off the phone with Matt. He said Patty contacted him via facebook to give him a report on Charlie.

He is not doing well, not well at all. I dunno just how bad it is but she is quite worried about him. Ya might recall that last one she said she really thought she was gonna lose him. I'm guessing this time he is as bad or worse.

That's all I know for now.

Thanks for the update. He's pretty faithful to the religious forum and I haven't been seein things from him.

Checking in to see if anyone has heard from Patty or Charlie. Continuing to pray for his health, but grateful to know that whatever the outcome, his eternal future is secure in Christ.

I just got off the phone with Charlie's wife Patty. She told me Charlie passed yesterday morning.

I asked her if there was anything GBO members could do for her. She asked that members send cards to her and mention on it that you are a GBO member.

I'm sad to say I really don't know what Charlie's last name was, do any of you know?

The address  is:

Patty Nelson
700 Morgan Road
Payneville, KY, 40157

Patty's phone number is 270 980 2911. I believe she gave it to me to pass on you you guys once before so hopefully she won't mind me giving it here.

Charlie was dedicated, and one of a kind. Over the years we sometimes didn't agree, but we agreed more than not. I no doubt aggravated him more than he did me, and through an occasional PM, we got to be friends.
I don't doubt where he is right now, and he now has all the answers, to all his questions, and mine to.
He doesn't need a walker, or an oxygen tank.

Rest in peace Charlie, I'm gonna miss you.

I am wondering if there is not a way to rename part of the forum after him as an enduring memorial.

I thought about sending a card but changed my mind and wrote her a nice letter instead. I think a letter is a lot more personal and can express how all of us felt about her husband and how we looked forward to his post. Cards also are very nice but this is the way I handled.

Agreed. Changing the name of somebody elses forums isn't something members should be trying to do, or even suggesting.
While I'll miss Charlie, he isn't the first, and won't be the last.
I think Matt has a gone but not forgotten forum for such things.

Yup I have a thread on the Gone but not Forgotten forum about Charlie. Hardly anyone has noticed or commented there.

It's one of those places I seldom visit other than times like Charlies' passing.
In reality, funerals and memorials are for the living. The dead don't care.
Memorials such as the hundreds, probably thousands, of Confederate memorials in my part of the country.  They aren't about individuals, but instead sacrifice of local populations. I find those, an interesting reminder of our history.

As I have done nuthin remarkably notable. I have nuthin but a tombstone for my former presence when that time arrives.
I've requested cremation, and no more than a short graveside service, if that.

It will lessen any suffering in the case there are those that might care, and also cut down on the celebratory opportunities of those, joyful of my exit.

Gone, and soon forgotten.  ;)

I noticed. Words are for the living. I sent his bride a short note which is more important... IMO...
