This question regards a .45-70 barrel on a SB-2 receiver. While I do not know the age of the barrel it appears to be fairly new. The receiver was made about 1992. The ejector on this barrel has no spring tension so it, of course, doesn't eject a cartridge upon opening the action. Comparing it to a .223 barrel one can see a difference in the way the ejector is installed. I called NEF and talked to their customer service department. I was told that barrels in that caliber (.45-70) made after 2009 don't eject the cartridge. Has anyone else heard this? I apologize if this has been covered but a search did not generate anything useful about the subject. Thanks
