Simple as this, the Right is the people who work for a living, the left is the parasitic lice and tapeworms who suck off of the folks who work and earn.

I had a long response typed in but lost it, just as well. Those of you that thought the 50's and 60's were so great were not there, you just saw one too many happy days reruns, or leave it to beaver. I was great for SOME , just like today is great for SOME. I WAS there, and I can tell most of you that while your head is there, look around for polyps and save yourself some medical costs. Each of us has some good times that we remember, that does not mean it was great for everyone.
Unless someone finishes Einstein's unified field theory right quick, time is linear, we are NOT going back ANYWHERE. Tomorrow is coming, like it or not, and despite my distaste, my brother-in-law was right in one thing, "today is more like tomorrow than yesterday will ever be". We have problems. You can agree on patching the boat or we can just swim. Which?  Frankly Scarlet.............
1000 years ago Men KNEW the Earth was the center of the Universe.....500 years ago Men KNEW the world was flat....... 15 minutes ago you KNEW man was alone in the universe.... Just IMAGINE what we will know tomorrow !! "K"- from Men in Black.

In the begining of our country, owning land was a requirement for voting.  It is because you had a vested interest in our country.  That is why the homestead act for the the territories.  If you lived on the property and worked it for 7 years, it was yours, you could vote, and you paid property taxes.  Factory owners in the north and north east were against it, because they feared loosing cheap factory labor.  the south was for homesteading because of slavery and their heirs could claim some land, import slaves and work it.  Because of the chance of land ownership, thus ability to acquire wealth, factories had to be a little easier on American workers than their European counterparts.  Unless Europeans could get a boat ride to America, they were kind of stuck.  Even with our industrial output of the civil war and afterwords, in 1890 90% of Americans still lived on farms and ranches.  Mass production of automobiles started the movement of poor farmers to the city factories, along with other automobile associated industries.

The scale you are using is wrong, more propaganda I think. The Libertarians are the center of the scale, both the Republicans and Democrats are to the left of center. The Anarchists are to the right of center.

Doesn't matter if the ship constantly pulls right or left....you're still going round in circles and getting nowhere.
You're still just getting jerked around.
We need to get past that left/right paradigm.

ShootAll nailed it.  It ain't what he did already, it's what he's gonna do in the next term.  I keep thinking I'm the only one who can see how horrible it will be.  It's already impossible to recover from what he's done, but 4 more years will change the United States of America whose name will mean nothing more than Etheopia.
It's way more than scary.  It's a very real possibility.  If he gets back in, it's a done deal.  We will crash.  Anyone of us could walk down a neighborhood street or highway and flag down a car driven by a better canditate than him.  I can't understand how we got to this point.  The good news is that nothing is out of order.  It's all being watched and controlled by our Father.  Even if we crash this week, we are right on track.  We can't change the Kingdom's overall plan.  Yep, we can vote for his opponent, but the longer this nation lives and thrives in it's current state of idocy, we are doomed.  Maybe not in us older fellows lifetime, but certainly in our children's.  I will go so far as to say that if Romney wins, we are just prolonging the enevitable.  He can't fix the human heart.  The heart of a human beats to the rythm of what's best for "me."  Republicans and Democrats come and go.  When the nation is broken, the voters change sides.  But that has gone on about as long as it can.  If ever the U.S. was on the verge of failing completely, it's now.  It will be interesting to watch it die.  The entity we've endeared since we were born is not immune from destruction, either financially or physcially.  That's a difficult fact to digest because this current generation has never known anything different.  One can simply look back through the trials of nation against nation.  It's always existed.  Only Israel has survived.  We, as Ameicans, have no biblical guarantees, and I'm certain we are living in the last few years of its existence.  "American" means nothing at all after you are dead.  The soldiers of all the wars America have fought died only to continue a way of life we are very shortly to lose.  It's not the foreign enemy that will take us out; it's our own selves.  We saw that 4 years ago when Obama got elected.  How on earth could something like that happen?  The answer is, his lies that the majority bought are a trustworthy indication of the ignorance and immorality that exist here now.  It can't get better.  It might for a little while, I don't know, but we are on a steady downhill course to socialism and then destruction.
Oh, looky.  Mike in VA has a negative and bleak attitude.  I sure am glad I'm not like him.  I know things are on the mend.  They're going to get so much better.  We're going to keep all our guns.  Our way of life will always be here for me and my grandchildren.  We are Americans and we can't fail.
Idiots!  Wake up!  I'm not saying we have time to wake up and fix it, I'm saying wake up and get ready for the crash.

I do not fear going far right.  Last time we were far right was possibly the 1920's when they outlawed alcohol, drugs, and prostitution, yet we had laise-fare capitalism.  Didn't work, caused more gangster problems, bootlegging, etc.  We will probably NEVER go far right again.  However, we are headed to the far left.  We must turn the ship otherwise, we will loose the other freedoms like gun ownership, freedom of speach, freedom of religion, etc.

Dixie Dude, that is far left, meaning more govt. control on us. Far right would be no government, center is a democracy with a gauranteed set of rights. Fascism and communism are both leftist concepts. Our position presently is a Republic that both mainstream parties are helping erode our rights, but the Republicans are the Lesser of Two Evils!

Rick, you are right, but we still need to move this big ship to the right more and getting the government off the small business owners is a start.  I work in the natural gas industry.  We have an encyclopedia of books about 3' wide with government regulations on the gas industry.  My job now takes about 50% of my time dealing with government regulations.  When I first started 37 years ago, it was only about 10% and I did a lot of other productive work.  Now we contract out some of the work just to keep from hiring more people.  Can't use them when the economy is slack.  So when we pick up, we contract out stuff like pipeline inspection.

Are you willing and able to follow Obama's advice and "spread this wealth around..

Perhaps ACORN or a Gay & Lesbian assn would like about 360 acres and a lake for a summer camp.

You probably don't need 2 bikes..maybe "meals on aheels" could use one.

Hmm, a 36 acre lake...plant some trees and you can change it to an illegal alien hideout( if the gays & Lezzies refuse)..

Money in savings and investments..you must be a greedy "one percenter"..better give it to the poor...and use food stamps.

Gun collection..do as any self-respecting liberal would do..Is there a "gun buy back" program there in Kansas?

You had it pretty good..until you took Obama seriously...   Or did you ??

Obama is not even a left leaning Democrat.  Bill Clinton was better, probably because he grew up here, and knew America.  Obama didn't grow up here.  Doesn't really know how the real Americans think, work, or act.

That being said.

Obama's budgets have been voted down unanomously, by all Dems and Reps because all know it wouldn't work.

Obama spends like there is no tomorrow, knowing full well he is digging a hole for America to have to come out of.

Even his commission to balance the budget, bi-partisan, he rejected, because he wants America to pay for it's sins.

In his books, he is against coal, suburbs, he wants electric cars and mass transit, he is for solar and wind, doesn't care about the rest of the energy situation.

He blames America and England for exploiting the third world, thus causing them to be poor.

He doesn't believe in American exceptionalism nor the American dream.

He is against capitalism.  He thinks government can solve all the problems, and believes it was the government who created the capitalists.

He is against everything America has stood for.  He wants to lead from "behind".  What's with that?

Jobs and the economy were the no. 1 issue in 2008 when he was elected, but what does he push "Obamacare" which the majority of Americans didn't want.  They wanted the economy to improve.

He hasn't helped the economy, but has stagnated it.  Most economists say we are about to go into another deep recession, worse than in 2008.  We can't spend our way out, we have to let American small business go, take away their restrainsts, and get things moving again.

Everyone knows this here, but some still defend him.
