410 plinker slugs experiments

25 yard target 4 shots I think I know why the one tumbled

the projectiles  :D   9mm brass lee .5 scoop of 7 1/2 shot heat till the lead melts I think the one tumbled because the lead move on firing  this group was fluxed to help lead stick to brass   gas seal cut from 410 wad, filler wads cut from 12x12 cork board and leather with a 7/16th hollow punch  paper patched with art paper

more to come as experiment progresses

 If I understand you right,  you used 9mm with lead melted in it for your projectile? If so cool idea. Finally a good use for 9mm ;)

yep  paper patched too!  just enough lead  to get to get to about 100 grains cutting wads with a 7/16th hollow punch

To make sure I understand correctly, you are cutting the petals off a 410 shot wad to make a gas seal, then placing 410 filler wad on top of the gas seal and topping it off with an inverted 9MM case with lead in the base to make a weight forward slug?  The paper patch is to make the "bullet" tight in the bore?  If you leave the petals on the 410 shotcup and insert the inverted 9mm brass is it fairly undersize?  If I tried this I would probably forget I filled the 9mm cases with lead then destroy my 9MM size die decapper pin. :o   Neat idea!
 
Any thoughts of using an expander to flare the mouth of the brass so it would act as the gas seal?
