H&R .445 sm load (added acouple)
« on: January 28, 2012, 12:03:23 PM »
I just reamed my .44 to the .445 sm. Planning on use it for deer. Wondering if any of you have a pet load or at least powder bullet combo, that has worked good in the Handi's.

Just a side note, Midway has had brass 3 days ago  ;)

UPDATE; my search abitity stinks. But after digging found some good help.

H110/W296 and the 300gr XTP has been a good combo traditionally, lots of discussions on that one.  ;) And there's always AA's old data.

I have been thinking about reaming mine to .445, but I have a .460 (encore  :o ) , so I'm not sure if I want to or not.

What's a Hanid? ;D  I'm thinking real hard about having my friend David ream a short 44 Mag barrel for me. It would be a true 200yd big-bore Indiana deer slayer. No need for a .358 anything when you have the 445 SM. ;)

Thanks, Dinny

Ok ordering some 240, 265 and 300gr bullets.

Would I be better off with soft points or hollow points?

Thanks
Lonny

I would think that the Hornady 265 (Interlock) and some 110/296 would be very good deer medicine. Seat the bullet out to the second crimp groove and it is a soft point.
