Jason,

In keeping with the tradition of this forum I will offer advice and not attempt to answer your question. ::) ::)   Considering the limited availability of the 445SM brass and the fact you have a 44mag and 444m why not leave your 44Mag intact and then you can just download your 444M if you want to shoot 445SM loads?  I am leaving my house now before I am tarred & feathered by the 445SM fanatics. ;)

Well I will break tradition and give you info that you requested. I find that my handi does just fine with the .44 after reaming to .445. no problems at all. Don't let the naysayers talk you out of trying it if you want something different. Yes brass has been difficult at times to find but it is available right now from several sources. Buy a hundred and you will be set for a long time. The .445 is a fine round.

I think you'll find that any rechamber done with a good rifle reamer(which my 445 reamer is) as opposed to a cylinder reamer will improve the accuracy of the shorter rounds due to the throat it cuts.  ;)

I would recommend that you do. Then again, I just don't see a need for a SB1 frame.

Thanks, Dinny

If you want to use full pressure loads, I would, you can get by with mid level loads tho.

Don't hesitate to ream it.  Mine is an older over-bored barrel, reamed for me by Tim.  I just load .433 GCs from Montana Bullet Co. for the SM, but it still shoots factory mags just fine.  I too found brass fairly easily.  The first batch was made from .30-40 brass and needed the rim trimmed.  The rest was new Starline.  I have mine on a SB2 frame, and I have some loads that kill on both ends.
