Brian, I've got a 10" 50 AE barrel that shoots real good. But like you are wondering, extraction is a hit or miss guess. After I fire a round and break the action open, sometimes the extractor will move while leaving the case fully in the chamber. When this happens, I close it again (the extractor moves fully inward even though the case is still there) and try again. Usually it comes out the second try, but sometimes it takes a third. OK for plinking at the target range but not for hunting.
Because of this problem, I sent the barrel to SSK this past summer for rechambering to 500 S&W. JD originally thought it could be done but when he got the barrel, he recommended against it as the interior chamber dimensions would be a wisker too big. So this barrel is for plinking only.
