I don't know if you are into reloading but to really get every bit of enjoyment out of the little gun is to reload for it.
All I use is a Lee Classic reloader and I've loaded it mild to wild!
I haven't had mine that long and I'm still working up loads but I've found some fun loads using lead cast bullets and Trail Boss powder that are just too much fun to plink with and are a dream to shoot, and cheap.
I've also worked up a load for my hog hunting using a 300 grain Hornady XTP jacketed hollow point and IMR4227 which not using a chrono I'm guessing around 1400 ft. per sec. which group at 1" at 100 yards, if I do my part.
Even with my "hot load" it's in my opinion a very mild recoiling rifle, but then I've shot my 45-70 with some loads that killed on both ends of the barrel.
