Beerbelly..seriously..If your kids are serious, studying Christians, let them take you to a real Bible study. They would be pleased, your family would be more united and you would find more joy in life. I'll be 75 come September, and I would like to meet you someday, over there "beyond the sunset"..
I suggest a good Bible study simply because the very propositions you put forth now, which sound plausible (at least superficially) to you, will be explained.
TM,
How can a people be "God's chosen people" yet still be under a cloud ? The Jews have been God's people since the deal was made with Abraham..God chose them and loves them as if they are His children, but we also know from the Jewish Bible that they have so often been like unruly children (and so have Christians), so there were times when he had to treat them with "tough love" perhaps even for hundreds of years, and some will suffer and pay the price for it. God is a "God of love" ...but he is also a God of justice..for instance, God may have wanted to allow Moses to enter the promised land..but He had to keep His word, so Moses did not enter that land. God is a God of justice !
Your statement implying that Jesus was Nazarene rather tha a Jew is closely akin to saying.."William Layton is a Texan..so he can't be an American "! Jesus was in some ways, anti-pharisee, but he was in no way anti Jew..
I will again explain what the relationship is from Christians toward Jews.. Jews are our "spiritual ancestors" and we hold respect for them just as many people have a special place for their ancestors, whether thry would agree with them on everything or not !
Now, if you STILL don't get it, that's your fault ! Also, if you still don't "get it"..it's simply because you DON'T WANT to !
tsalam;
I take it you are Jewish, correct ? The point you bring up fits the Jewish pattern but not the Christian template. Scripture clearly explains that Jesus was not the natural son of Joseph, but rather..Jesus is the Son of God. The difference comes by way of the view of the promised Messiah. The traditional Jewish image of the Messiah is of a conquering Messiah ..but Jesus came as a humble, suffering, Messiah. Please re-read the book of Isaiah, especially chapters 53-55...see if ch 53 especially, doesn't draw a complete picture of Jesus and his life ! Notice over in ( Isaiah 55:5) speaking to the Jews.." Surely you shall call a nation you do not know, and nations who do not know you shall run to you, because of the Lord your God, and the holy one of Israel; for he has glorified you".
Most Jews did not recognized the Messiah although He walked among them, but many are now getting the message...and there is still some time yet, hopefully many more will come to the Savior.
I hope I haven't offended you, I am just explaining the difference, showing where in the Christian view, the New Covenant , is actually an extension of the Jewish Bible..
