Can anyone tell me who makes the Handi Grip stock? It looks (and I have just seen pics) somewhat fragle around the thumbhole area like it might be easy to break. Would like to hear what others have to say about it, it appears to be a good value but have been unable to find it in stock. I looked at the thread in the sticky, just was not much from people that had used the stock. Thanks Craig

Choate Machine & Tool makes it, they make all of the H&R synthetic stocks, they don't sell it direct yet, but it's available from H&R and Midway, see the FAQs info on the retail parts page if you missed it, Mac wrote a good review on it.

I just got off the phone with Choate and was told they did not make the Handi Grip. Not a problem I did find them instock with Google search. Thanks guys

Choate does make it, the checkered Handi-grip forend is identical to the forend they sell and comes on standard Handis, I have both. They just can't say they make it for some marketing reason. They said the same thing about the checkered set when it first came out, now it's on their website!

Boyd's did the same thing when the laminated thumbhole first came out, they denied making it, then they started selling them as seconds later!

For those of you that have already done the legwork, who is currently selling the Handi Grip stock for the cheapest price (shipped). Also can you buy the buttstock without buying the forearm or do you have to buy them as a pair..Thanks for your info, knowledge, and replies....<><....

They come as a kit if you buy from a retailer, H&R sells the stock and forend separately I think, the separate part numbers are on the retail parts page in the FAQs, Mac bought them from H&R before they were available elsewhere, the stock bolt has to be ordered separately, but is included in the kit. The least expensive in stock source I found was http://www.shooterscatalog.com/handigrip-stock-forend-synthetic-black-p-21355.html but ya never know what their shipping is, that can make or break a good buy, they want $10.99 to me.

I got one and have had it on my 20ga Tracker slug gun all season .I really like it for how I hunt . If any thing I think the palm swell is a little large but can live with it can't say that it's weak or fragile by any means. Right now I got way to many stocks and want to get a couple of more of the Handi Grips. But need to go thru my stash and dump a bunch that i don't use first. Kurt

Midway had them a couple weeks ago. I bought one there. $54.99 + 8.89 shipping to Indiana

As far as fragile I agree with PHATINJUN. I have bigger hands and the grip fits good on me.

^^^Best I have found as well including shipping. I ordered a set from here just a few minutes ago. I can't wait to get it in. I handled a .308 with the Handi-grip setup a few days ago and it felt pretty dang sweet!!!

Ordered the set Thursday night, got it in today! Here's how the set looks on my 444 Marlin topped with a Leupold VX-III 4.5-14x50. Any tips for adding a little weight to the buttstock?

That's covered in the FAQs, probably one of the easiest for the synthetic stock is a sock or bag filled with lead shot, more permanent methods involve shot and epoxy since you don't need access to a stock bolt, Mac covers that in his write up in the FAQs.

It's on the H&R website as 14¼", they list LOP for all their firearms.

Thanks for the info on the website that you guys goot the stock. Just ordered mine from the shooters catalog. Midway was out and shooters was 10 bucks for shipping even after adding two extra items. Can wait to put it on my 243 ultra fluted.

First I weighed my wood stock (which I like the feel of). Then I added some foam peanuts and a small snacksize zip lock bag with some #4 lead shot (wrapped with duck tape cause I don't trust the zipper) until it weighed the same. After that I filled the remaining void with more foam peanuts and put the buttpad on and the rest is history. It seemed to work just fine. I like that I can remove/adjust it if I ever want to.

i got my handigrip from midway last fall for $52 shipped, heck of a deal, stock is well made i was suspicious at first but its fits well of my 30-06 and reduced my groups my 1/2" an inch due to the greater control
