My new puter won't allow the kodak program to run for some reason.  Trust me there brand new unissued except for a little to no wear on the grips thats all i see with it.  Samco has the P38 with the alloy frames i believe.  I'd like to get all the german pistols now too.   CZY

Off-topic, but rather on relying on manufacturer's software (which as you've noticed, sometimes stops working), it's usually easiest to just get a memory card reader.  Pop the card out of the camera, put it in the reader, and then plug the reader in.  Your pics will pop up just like a folder and you can just copy them off.  The readers are less than $10 if you look around online, or around $15 from somewhere like Wal-mart.

Go to; www.aimsurplus.com   The German Walther P1 pistol in 9mm luger just became a C&R for $319.   I ordered one already better move quickly if you want one too.  I'm not sure how many they have.  Its one more german pistol off my want list.   Move quickly......you been told.....happy new year too!!!!!!                          Bill

Why do they do this to me? ::). Just when I have the "discretionary fund" built up for something I want, they add another must have to the C&R list. Oh well, I didn't really want a Remington 870 synthetic 18" 7 round to build a tactacal shotgun with anyway! :'(
Just got off the AIM site, MY P1 IS ON THE WAY!!! ;D

Still haven't got one myself.   A CZ-75 distracted me :).  I did send off for my C&R renewal though.  If they make it until that comes in then I'll get one.

My P1 purchase put a dent in my discretionary fund. Slowed down plans for a tactical shotgun, and more T/C Contender barrels. However after having my C&R license almost 9 years I have learned how true the old saying "You snooze, you lose" is.

Nothing wrong with the CZ75's i think the CZ pistols are the best in overall quality.  Mine are unmatched in dependability and reliability and never jam or stove pipe.  There better than the energizer bunny.  I always go looking for one thing and get distracted by another thing.  It happens everytime i go browsing lately.  But we need to look for the best values too.  I can't pass up a new wheel gun with almost $500 off the list price.($1,161 list). Right now with more stuff becomming older and getting the C&R rating its good not to let the C&RFFL03 expire.  I just renewed mine.  CZY

OK, here she is. My new German sweetheart the BBT brought Wednesday.
1979, all matching numbers, very little holster wear on the muzzle, and sharp edges of the slide. Really cool camo holster and  one extra mag.

And like a good German sweetheart, she does what I ask!!!
5 shots @ 10 yds off hand. (and the little left is my poor shooting!!!)

These are really nice P1's and i'm surprised there not sold out yet. www.aimsurplus.com  offers the p1's while www.samcoglobal.com offers the p38's with the alloy frame i believe too.

Well darn.  My C&R finally comes in yesterday and AIM has these listed as sold out :(

Oh well.  I'm mailing out copies of the license anyways.  At least I can get a Tokarev from J&G.  I guess since they do still have it listed though just marked as sold out, that there is a possibility of them getting another shipment.

I have always liked the P1/P38 and have the P38 I purchased new for my father in 1971.  It's a good shooter and from a vice rest will group pretty well at 25m and is on a silhouette target at 50m, fine for me.  But I wish someone would make either a longer barrel, let's say 5 or 6" or a bull barrel for more accuracy.  Actually, I think the one major improvement that could be made with the Walther double actions is to have a trigger stop to prevent 'after let off' rear travel, or 'post sear disconnect' rear trigger travel.

Got to admit though that with a fresh bunch of surplus ammo and a couple of additional mags you can have a lot of fun and be very well served with the P1/P38.  I would also love to find a place that offers 7.65mm Luger/30 Luger barrels for the P1/P38.  Anyone have any ideas about that???  Thanks.

That's a sweet looking pistol there cheapshooter. I haven't had so much as a hiccup from mine. It's a little older though.

I've owned P-38s, Lugers and C96 Mausers and without a doubt the 9mm ammo they were built to run on is a 124/5 gn at just shy of 1100'/sec.; anything much hotter than that really starts beating up these older designs and you often find them not liking hollowpoints or soft nosed bullets.  The 9x19 or 9mm Luger was developed for the P-08 Luger Pistol ( the toggle action); it was shortened from the 7.65 Luger cartridge by cutting the shoulder off and opening it to 9mm.

My current Walther is a post war Carl Walther alloy frame P-38.  I purchased this one back in the mid-60s.  I've run a few hot loads through it but just prefer plain ball at the original loading.  I know these pistols were also chambered in the 7.65 or 30 Luger and have never seen one except in pictures, but that is about to change.  I can order a 30 Luger barrel for my P-38 from a gunsmith in PA and get it within a month. The gunsmith will either reline your 9mm bbl or make a new barrel from scratch.  I haven't yet asked him about the parts that go with it or the front sight blade, but I will.....

FYI - AIM has these back in stock.  Wideners has a batch of them apparently too. Wideners shipments appears to have an extra magazine and cleaning kit but omits the holster.  After shipping, for the versions with the hex pin (which are the only ones I'd consider) Wideners appears to be about ~$20 more.

I went ahead and ordered one from AIM.  Told myself I would get one if they ever came back in stock, and I'm getting rid of another gun I didn't like anyways, so yay for new toys :D.

HA!  My new P-38 parts came.  A used slide, complete for $70 slid right onto the frame without any problem, the locking block for the barrel popped right into place and the set-up both looks good and functions perfectly.  Would you believe the  used slide is 12 years newer than the original..  The 7.65mm Luger barrel for the P-38 is on the way and when the conversion is complete and fitted, my P-38 will have a complete original upper in 9mm and a complete dedicated upper in 7.65.  I have all the necessary components I need, so while I await the new barrel, the reloading fun begins.............

Wish I could buy one.  I was amazed that they had a aluminum framed HP!  There's a gun I'd love to own.
I owned a P1 for a long time, great gun.  Really could not tell the diff between it and a P-38, took the P-38 mags and used a P-38 part to fix a broken part.
great guns, kind of wish I never got rid of mine.

Grr.  Well, my P1 came in from AIM today.  Has the beefed up slide but I was disappointed to see that it did NOT have the hex pin.  The pics on the website show the pin, everyone I heard about had gotten that version from AIM, and the website made no mention of it.  I called and spoke with them and the guy said that you're only guaranteed a hex pin if you pay for handpick (but no handpick option is listed on the web).  He did say if I spoke to the cs rep Monday that they'd let me ship it back for exchange.   Guess ill do that as I have no desire to own one without the pin.  Kinda bummed about it, but oh well.  Not too mad at them just wish the situation had been spelled out more clearly.
