Could someone please tell me what the current status us on the H & R muzzleloaders? Are they being made now?

The Sidekicks were discontinued in 2008, the Huntsmans a couple years before that. Up until Remington took over they were branded as NEF's, the last Sidekick I bought in 2008 was branded as a H&R.

There was some talk about them bringing out a new muzzleloader, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting. It is really too bad, because the platform works great, it is just the breech plug and ramrod that needs work.

If you really want one, I would look around for a NOS, NIB, or lightly used one and upgrade the breech plug and ramrod.

As Busta said don't hold your breath. Last word was they were reinventin the wheel so to speak. With many great improvements. That was nearly 2yrs ago. Kurt

Unfortunately the manager at H&R/Marlin who was driving that movement hasn't worked for Remington for almost a year, so I have no idea if anyone there is interested in bringing the Huntsman back or not.  :-\

Thanks, my son has just spent his first week in deer camp and now is looking for any way possible to spend more time in the woods. He thinks he might go with a T/C inline since there's no factory support for these. Too bad Remington is missing the boat.

I suggest just watching the WTS and WTS/WTT here in the Handi forum. I just sold a Huntsman barrel, ramrod, forearm with a couple of orange primer holders for $70 shipped. You could just get a Huntsman barrel for your son and put it on an H&R/NEF reciever you have or keep your eyes open for another reciever for it. Of course, you could also buy him a complete Huntsman or a Sidekick here as well. Perhaps post a WTB...good luck....<><....:)
