The more I think about it, the more I come to realize that the BCC would also make a truly great "Survival" rifle (as in food-gettin' rifle, *NOT* "defend against the Black Helicopter Crew comin' to git' me" rifle), not only does it shoot a big chunk o' lead, it's short, maneuverable, easily broken down and packed, utterly reliable, and for standard pressure cartridges, it has practically no recoil to speak of, but it can handle the "Ruger Only" Nuclear-level loads if you need it to
Then there's also the fact that the .45 Colt cartridge was originally a Black Powder cartridge, that means you can even load up BP rounds in the event that the supply of smokeless powder dries up, keep a good stock of primers on hand, and you can always fall back on good ol' BP in a long-term emergency/survival situation
Heck, I could even hand the rifle with powderpuff smokeless loads to a novice shooter, or even a child capable of safely holding the rifle on target, and they could use it to gather game
I just love the nonexistent-to-light recoil, pointability, balance and quick shouldering of this great little carbine
I've been reading some older threads on the BCC, stating that H&R has been contemplating/already has discontinued production of the BCC, any truth to this, as it's still listed on their web site, they'd be foolish to discontinue this great gun, if it is being discontinued, then the urgency to pick up a second one for backup just went up dramatically
