what is an 80's vintage 357 max worth
« on: November 06, 2010, 12:08:41 PM »
I found a BB serial numbered 357 Max at a pawn shop but they want 279 for it.  A similar 44 mag was 179.  Call me cheap, but I don't usually pay that much for near new handis.  Offered 200 for it but they didn't bite.  I'll leave  it be for awhile and try 175.

I don't really know how to advise you.  Yes, the price seems somewhat high.....they're about as plentiful as hens teeth,.....but, if you buy the .357 new, rent the reamer, mail it back and forth, do the work, etc.....it could be worth it if it is in good shape.  Also, if it is a 158 with the lighter barrel, that's a plus too.  I'm a greedy old S.O.B., I'd probably buy it.  I know one thing, I would cut the barrel.  I've done it and love it.  If you think about it, the .38, mag and Maxi are pistol rounds, and a shortie Handi is still 3 times as long.

Good luck, you'll toss and turn with this tonight...I know I would.  If ya don't buy it, pm me the Pawn Shop's phone number ;D ;D

Like all out of production firearms, they're worth what ever someone is willing to pay for it.  ;)
