When I first bought a 25-06 I really scratched my head. You can read about it on my web site. I traded that barrel away for a 223
barrel that was not much better. I then bought a brand new 223 which did not qualify in accuracy for a varmint rifle.

I had both these barrels rebored and rechambered, they are now super accurate. I have two Handi's now that will shoot along with any bolt action hunting rifle.

I can feel for you H&R put out a lot of poor workmanship. But most of them can be made to shoot realy well with sometimes very little efffort. Reading my web site will give you a good idea what can be done or what needs to be done.

I have spelled out procedures in great detail and all can be done
with simple hand tools and a bit of patience. I don't believe it takes a hundred rounds to break in a new rifle. What you want is a solid conected system no loose joints. A clean latch shelve and a latch that is supported across its whole width.

There is a lot of help on this board so give it a break. I could offer to fix your rifle and tune it, but shipping firearm across the border is a no no.

If you don't feel like doing some of things needed to make these rifles shoot well, then you should get rid of them, and buy a cheap Savage bolt action.

I vote you don't care about accuracy until you have 100 rounds thru it, and when the groups tighten up, DO NOT clean it. When the groups start to deteriorate, then clean it, and by the 10th round or less you should be seeing your accuracy back to where you want it. And don't clean it until the accuracy starts to deteriorate again. Many Handi's like dirty barrels.
