Consider it a freebie, and use it well, knowing someday you may not like it or it may let you down, but the $50 scope is what it is. I am no scope snob, I put a $70 scope on my 22 Hornet and expect to get many years of service from it. Mind you though, a 22 Hornet is not exactly going to tax the scope's ability to resist recoil compared to a 308. Happy shooting.
Did you get the camo stock? I looked at one recently, what a nice feel, a little heavy, but I bet it will be very accurate.
