NEF Scope
« on: September 14, 2009, 04:48:36 PM »
I got a new 308 handi from Dicks sporting goods today,  it has a scope on it from NEF with no name on it.

My question is are they any good should invest ammo and time in it?
What brand are they?

If I need a nother scope what would you buy to put on it?

Thank you for any help

If it is clear and works then use it, probably is it made by one of the lesser expensive brands, but they work too, so try it out and see what you get.  Larry

The scopes are made offshore by the same OEM to the same specs as Remington combo scopes, it's their secret who makes them and where.

Consider it a freebie, and use it well, knowing someday you may not like it or it may let you down, but the $50 scope is what it is. I am no scope snob, I put a $70 scope on my 22 Hornet and expect to get many years of service from it. Mind you though, a 22 Hornet is not exactly going to tax the scope's ability to resist recoil compared to a 308. Happy shooting.

Did you get the camo stock? I looked at one recently, what a nice feel, a little heavy, but I bet it will be very accurate.

I did get the camo stock, it does have a nice feel that is why I got it. The only thing I am worried about is getting tired of looking at camo and have to trade out for a nice looking wood stock.

No where with any credibility I'd bet. Asian OEMs make scopes for lots of optics companies, Weavers are made in Japan, I seriously doubt the combo scopes are, the information I posted came from Remington.

I thought that Weaver is really ATK which slices and dices many scopes in many factories. Ie the old   Intensity brand from the Philipines were discontinued so they could be called the new Weaver scopes. All ATK, same factory, very similar scopes.
