I just got my SB2 receiver back from Remington on Friday. Fitted to it was a 7mm-08.
I picked up the phone in early December, and verified the 357mag and 44mag barrels were in stock. They declined my offer to pay up-front for the barrels, and cover the fitting later. I told them I would be overnighting my receiver that day, which I did calling with my tracking number, and to put both barrels aside.
I called them three weeks after they received the action into the nifty e-checkable repair system. After that I called every two weeks till March, then started to call every week. I was tired of having sunshine blown up my ass about the availability of the barrels. I kept getting, "they are in stock" "should be another week, we are waiting on the supplier" Finally I got a guy two weeks ago that flat out said, "they are not in, and we have no clue when they will be ready" Even went onto say that the company was looking into machinery to make their own barrels because of their current supply issues. Time till barrels are ready... god only knows.
So I changed my order to a .308 bull ultra and was told to call in a couple days for a status, as the barrel showed "in stock." I called back, and sure enough... no .308. So I settled on the 7mm-08, just to get my rifle back in my hands. 2-days later I get notification that the rifle had shipped. I finally, after almost 4 FULL months of waiting, am able to shoot my rifle again. Granted it is not in the caliber I initially wanted for specific reasons, but oh well.
So.... if you are sending in your receiver to get a barrel fitted... Buyer beware!
Now I am looking for a complete rifle in .44 mag.
