I've got one in .243 Win and with some work, it is doing great! For target, I would second the recommendation for the .223. People seem to have good luck with them. I really like the Choate stock on mine! I would recommend getting one of the cheek rests from Choate to add to it. I have a Choate stock on one of my custom Remington 700's and it came with a high and low cheek rest. Since I used the high for it, I tested the low on my handi, and with a 44mm obj. scope in high rings, it's a good fit for me. I also removed the butt pad and added some lead shot to the cavity in the stock to add some weight so I can pop it open on the bags and it not fall forward with it supported under the hinge. It also helps to reduce recoil, a plus when shooting a bunch of targets at the range. Makes it a bit heavy for field use, but I mainly shoot it from a rest anyway.
I will say that although these rifles are capable of plenty accuracy for most people, it may or may not right out of the box. Some need a simple cleaning, some need to "break in" over time, some badly need a trigger job, etc. If you demand for a rifle to shoot .0625 MOA right out of the box, then you may need to look elsewhere.
Get one and try it out, worst case sell it here or part it out and get a new toy.
