Called mike monday and asked about my gun. He said that nothing is going on there at customer service this week because they are  ??? moving and re-arranging offices.  ??? I guess they have been doing this since last year based on my gun not being addressed since last year. He said to call back at the end of the week and he will see if he can get something done on it. close to six months now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

This is hard to believe.    >:(  Don't know why though, been there, heard that, finally got the screw...  :P  Those people have more excuses then I have ever heard before.  I'm waiting for "not today, I have a headache... call me in two weeks..."  ::)

Why does this not surprise me. Tried to call 4 times today(fri) like Mike said and could only get recording and no call back(cost money because they have no toll free number like most businesses). And the saga continues,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ??? ??? >:( >:(

Why oh why do folks just ignore by good advice on these dang Taurus guns and then get surprised when what I've been saying for several years about them proves true?  ::)

Your so right Bill,,,,,I just never had any quality issues til now(last year). No customer service period! Lies/B.S./runaround/Never buy another. Anyone else that is thinking of buying a Taurus had better think twice. My gun dealer/gunsmith told me today he has stopped trading/buying/ordering Taurus weapons based on what he has seen with my issues and others with their(Taurus) customer service. Why sell something with a so called lifetime no frills warranty and them get treated like dirt if your weapon needs warranty work. The only person I have ever seem tell so many lies other than Taurus customer service was my ex-wife. :o :o

That why i buy the older taurus guns (only revolvers) they are built ALOT better than the new ones. I have never "used" the warrenty dept. never need to. Any problems i fix myself most of the time it is just detailed cleaning. I do all the trigger work myself if it is a problem i have a older guy who does some gunsmithing for me. I did a trigger job for a guy on a new 22 mag 941 what a P-O-S the paw was way to long it made the trigger bind up took ALONG time to get it right! i worked on the thing for 4-5 hours most trigger jobs i can do in hour or less. buy the older ones

At the big December gun show in St. Paul, MN I saw a forlorn looking fellow try to sell off his Taurus revolver, it appeared new and had the original box with it, from what I could see he was not having any luck.  But I knew why he was getting rid of it.

I am so glad I got rid of all my Taurus guns years ago, but at least they worked to some extent.

Well, spent another afternoon trying to get thru to Mike or in fact, anyone at CS. Cut off 1 time/put on endless hold for 22 min/got mikes answering machine twice so I just left him another message about how he had wanted me to call him back the end of last week(see prior post about that/he has my home # and cel#) and how I have got no CS and want my gun fixed or replaced. Maybe I will get a reply in a few weeks ............or maybe they are done moving offices by then ??? ??? >:( >:(

Just guessing, but they'll probably loose your messages during the move.  Best of luck.  Personally, I'd give some serious thought to buying a different gun.

I just recently bought a Taurus 608 4 inch barrel used. Then I just thought I'd check my favorite forum and see what others feel about my lastest 357. The first thread I read.
Holy J#!*%s, I have not even fired it yet. It was a good deal and every things nice and tight. Cylinder has vey minimal motion with hammer cocked, end play (cyl. gap) looking good and timing seems to be alright.
Please!! can any owners of these 608's give me some good news about the Taurus I just got?
Is there a perticular reacurring failure of these 608's that I should be aware of?
I really like this piece and that is the  reason I bought it. It's hefty and has more weight and beef than some 357's.
I think I'll go out side and let some lead fly and see how it handles.  :)

Some times ya get lucky and one will work out OK. We even have one member here who doesn't seem to find a problem with their customer service tho I sure don't understand how or why as he is the only one I'm aware of who has dealt with them and not had a problem. Perhaps even they get it right on rare occasions.

Well, Got ahold of mike Thurs morning and he said my 608 was going to be reveiwed by a board that  afternoon and he would call me thurs afternoon or friday morning with what they(Taurus) was going to do. Well, fri pm has come and gone and no reply. Tried to call mike at #227 all fri afternoon and just got answering machine and I left messages and #s but no call back. They sure cant keep their word or do what they tell you they are going to do. My advice on buying a Taurus,,,,DONT!!!!!!!!!!! When I was a manager with Wal-Mart(back when Sam was still alive) years ago, we had a sundown rule. If we had a problem with a customer, we guarunteed them an answer or solution by sundown. Sounds like Taurus Customer Service is run by Ex-politicians/when their lips are moving, their telling lies! ***Going on 6 months now and no remedy to my broke 608***

yea i'm sure glad i got on this forum before deciding on my next gun purchase, i went to the shop they had a stainless taurus 85ul. it was priced good at $330 otd, but after readind the reviews here i decided the only way i would buy it was to make it understood, if the gun was bad that i get a refund. well it was bad the cylinder would bind at least once if not twice a cylinder, i returned it the shop, owner refunded my money. i then waited a week and added a little more money, $100 to be honest and got me a sp101. i am very happy, gun is smooth, and no trouble so far, from what i've heard the sp101's don't break very often. i have since traded my two charters for another sp101, the charters were good guns, way above taurus i think, exspecialy customer service.

Well, got ahold of mike today and talk about full of crap and lies. My 608 never went in front of a board. It was sent back to repair and they say all they did was replace a cylinder stop(which was supposedly replaced months ago and prior to that adjusted). It never saw a hand til yesterday!!!!! That is according to the service repair invoice!!! All this time I thought I was waiting for it to be reviewed by this so- called board/committee. Man this is getting out of control. They need to be straight up and do what they are supposed to do. We will see if it works when it gets back,,,AGAIN! THEY ARE FULL OF STORIES AND LIES! I like my other taurus handguns but will never ever buy another because they do not have any customer service/it is customer dis-service! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Hey at least they are consistent. They treat everyone like dirt.  :o

I don't really buy the story about having to go before a board or committee to make a decision tho I can't prove it's not true. I know on the two they replaced for me I raised so much cane and told them how many hundreds of thousands of folks here were gonna here about what happened in full detail they sure managed to get replacements to me and no one mentioned any group hug needed there first. The first one was replaced first trip there the second took two trips.

Note my quoted post above from some while back. I told ya then there ain't no board it goes before. What they have is a manager for customer service who way back when was a good guy and really did try to help customers but was out voted. Then you have the manager over repairs and they have a common boss who is the over all manager at the FL facility.

The repair manager and the over all manager are more concerned with keeping down costs than making customers happy and they are the ones with the final say really.

You guys really need to just accept the fact Taurus doesn't give a rat's ass about you once you've spent your money and they are not gonna take care of ya. If they break either throw it away or have it fixed locally then trade it back to the dealer you got it from. They are not worth the hassle.

+1

There may be some firearm worth putting up with CS like that of Taurus to own, but I don't know what it may be.   :-\

It's a shame though.  I like my Tracker, even though it needed work as it came from the factory.  But, considering Tuarus's lack of quality control in production and CS - or lack thereof - after purchase, they just ain't worth it.   :(

In all my years, I've only returned one gun to the manufacturer.  If I have a problem, I usually take it to a gun smith.

Omcforever's problems with his Taurus, and Taurus's lack of customer service have been an eye opener. I'll still stand on my conviction that my son-in-law's Judge must have been a "good" one, but I'm betting it is the exception rather than the rule. However, should he ever need to send it back to Taurus, I'm going to suggest that just get rid of it rather than having to go through what Omcforever has endured.

I feel bad about your experience Omcforever, but you have done many of us a favor by relating that experience. After seeing what you have gone through, I'm convinced that I'll never even look at a Taurus again, much less consider buying one.

So there you have it Taurus (if someone in your management should ever read this thread), hows that for word of mouth? You are definitely earning the negative attention.

A buddy of mine has a younger brother who was all proud of his 24/7 .40cal that he had bought.  He's not really a big gun guy and doesn't know the reputation of the different brands of guns enough to know better.  For guys like him they just get suckered right in with the lifetime warranty, and in fairness to guys who buy something on a lifetime warranty they are assuming that the manufacturer is really standing behind their product.  I've never bought anything with a lifetime warranty assuming I was going to get hosed.  It sucks, but Taurus is just taking advance of people who aren't as informed as they should have been and just flat out screwing them.  Every once in a while I'll see a taurus something and admire it, but I couldn't ever get myself to buy another one, because I already bought and sold two lemons from them.

It's funny how Graybeard mentioned the size of this site and suggested that omcforever do the same thing with customer service, and now that it's being discussed no one wants to touch a Taurus ever again. Word of mouth is a powerful tool, and I know I would never recommend a Taurus to someone having heard what omc and several others have gone through. Imagine how many people would read this thread a day in different parts of the country, and spread this word around to their gun clubs. Ten bucks says Taurus will be out of business within the next year if not sooner if we continue to see this kind of treatment from them (and most likely will). It's pretty amazing that this one thread or that this one event can end their sales as we know it...I think it's pretty cool!

Omc...how about a Ruger? They might be pricier but I bet they would treat you better than Taurus in the event something goes astray...and they seem like quality firearms from what I've seen and shot in the past  :)

Several concepts have occured to me on the Taurus issue, why hasn't the upper management in Brazil become aware of this problem and taken corrective measures, has anyone written them?  If they don't care, why not cheapen their product even further, which in the short run will save them money before the company folds, fatten the bank account and then invest in the next "short term" business investment.

Has anyone thought of a class action law suit?  Perhaps a burned attorney or two who would put in the time to file?  This problem has been going on for along time, and we have an economic recession, why is Taurus still in business?  Why do so many gun dealers continue to carry their products, if they stopped, the problem would eventually disappear.

These are just some thoughts, as I watch the news on Chrysler and GM going into major economic decline I think of all the bad American cars I once owned over the last decades, and can understand what is happening.

Uh, Got anybody particular in mind there Chris?    :D

A (class action) suit isn't the route for any number of (very good) reasons.   :-\  Of course if some disgruntled (and rich) Taurus owners wanted to come up with a couple of million (dollars) for me to make the (sure to fail) effort...  ;D

had the same issues with Browning , Winchester and Taurus .

When I was making the rounds of gunshops looking for a screw I was complaing to one dealier about the lack of CS.  He said pretty much the same thing as you.  Especially the part about S&W.  In his opinion, ALL manufacturers CS is terrible nowadays!   :(

If you want a screw, Taurus will definitely give it to you; they've screwed almost as many gun owners as congress!  ;D
