Gee whiz CW!   :o  I'm glad they got you when they did!  As someone else said, I've been there and done that!  But I was 61!  Take it easy, I was off for 2 months, and watch out for depression.

CW.
Hoping for your speedy recovery, at your age you should have a good chance. One never knows when disaster strikes. Last summer I came down with an e-coli bladder infection that nearly did me in. Spend 10 days in hospital and lost nearly 20lbs.

I fell out of my bed and passed out, next thing I know i was in an ambulance on my way to the emergency with a racing heart.
(atrial palpitations) I never been so sick ever.

Being old, 79, there is a great lack of resistance. But I made it, though recovery took a long time. That bug was very persistant.
Ended up with a partial kidney failure and type II diabetics. Neither real bad but nevertheless just another old age malfunction.

Best wishes and good luck and take it easy like me for a while.

CW,
I know we sort of "locked horns" on a post but I certainly don't wish bad health on anyone.  Glad you're OK.  Take it easy for a while and rest.  After that, it's time for granola bars, oatmeal, lots of fish, omega 3's, regular check-ups and cutting out the bad food....you know, the good tasting stuff.   :)
Take care and get well!

Thank you very very much for all the well wishes!!!  I do very much appreciate them.

I knew there was a number of "Cardiac club"  ::) members here but I had no idea!!!

Yea, the new diet.. Not a huge adjustment really. Overall,  I didn't eat awful, just too much. I definitely excessed on bad stuff too often. I mean I'd have frozen waffles for breakfast. I'd think nothing of a half a stick + of butter for 6 waffles. Or half a doz eggs and couple o'pieces of toast, again with too much butter. Biscuts and sausage gravy.. yup not often but when I saw it on the menu it was on my plate. Lunch I was 90% good, I don't like any of the fast food places. Dinner almost as good, plenty of veggies and fairly good meats. (Lotsa venison and Striped bass)

I am quite active although I never go to the gym. I walk up to 10 miles daily ALWAYS 5-6. ALWAYS hauling, lifting or carring something. I work on my Jeeps on the week ends, pulling motors and swapping trannys or suspensions. I'm a big guy a bit heavy but not what the average person would consider fat. I'm 6' and 250lbs. I have a fairly athletic build with a 55" chest and a 38" waist. Over the past two months I have actually lost almost 20 pounds. I quite soda 100% and cut the beer in half. This was a suprise for sure....

My cholesterol was not awful but a bit on the high side of regular, pretty much the same for my sugar. Although I do have some placking, my heart attack was from a blood clot and I don't know where it came from. But I'll find out!!

I'm getting tired, so its back to my chair for the day...

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate the suggestions, experiences and of coarse the well wishes!!

I am new to you NEF guys but I just want to say how lucky you are for modern Medicine and I wish you a speedy recovery
In your post you stated that you thought it would be good to tell your cyber friends I would like to tell you this ,
sometimes it may be a Very good thing that we all can go some where to speak to "cyber" there is all kinds in this world ,but as you see here your getting a good push to health from the Cyber's one this page, with That said "BEWARE of Depression" when a man goes through a traumatic time as you just witnessed the after math brings it on "now Cyber friends" you may  find that this is the Place to come and let it out but do your self a favor if the people around you seem to be saying all the wrong things and your feeling so good that you know they are all crazy
come on a Board and tell about it Maybe Just Maybe the way to find out about Depression
Depression also after these things does the opposite as what I just said and you'll feel inadequate a Lesser of a man
in reality all this is just a few ways of a million that depression hits but Talking to a cyber audience maybe a tool as I see already in the people that have had this happen and can tell you what they experienced
sorry for the long Drift
God speed on the recovery and God Bless you

I'm glad to hear you are doing better.  As an EMT I understand what your talking about.  Lots of folks in my area go through the same thing,  luckily the best heart center in Western North Carolina is just 30 miles from here.  Take it slow.  I'll keep you in my prayers.

I will slip mine in too.

Sorry to hear about your heart, my man.  You have really saved my bacon (hah, hah, guess that I will be eating all the bacon from now on....okay, that wasn't funny) more than a few times.  I appreciate the reloading advice that you give, whether it is directed to one of my questions or not.

Get some rest, prop the leg up.

Quick UPDATE:
Went to the Doc today.
He said everything looked really good. My EKG was normal, chest/heart sounds good and heart cath "path" looks great and is almost healed. Last tests at hospital and BP today both normal. All good and what the doc expected. I even got extra points for getting all the glue from the chest stickers off with out looking too much like that idiot on the 40yr old Virgin!!! (Read hairy chest)

Going to do a chemical stress test (Little treadmill running, I did have a heart attack after all.)and more blood work & EKG the end of the first week in Feb. Then an appointment back with him the following week. With luck and no complications, I will get a return to work date. I could be back to work before the end of Feb, but 1st of March is more likely.

I was cleared for some walking, NO stress or stressful situations. But I can get out of this house!!! Gotta take it way easy, at least for a couple weeks.

I feel better everyday, but find that I do tire quite quickly.

One of the symptoms (that I ignored) was how tired I was all the time.  After I healed up I was amazed at how much different I felt!  The fatigue will pass pal, but don't push it for a while!   ;D

CW, Been there twice. 1st Time...9yr. ago...age 55...healed up good...maybe too good...got to feeling cocky...you know, 10ft tall and bullet proof again.  Five years later...Bang..#2...age 60...little more damage this time, but still doing pretty good.  Now 4 yr later I hope I got the part between my ears fixed a little better and I listen more to what "they" say.  Still taking all them darn pills and stuff and laying low on the sour mash and cigars(well pretty much).  I really think it's a mind game too, as much as anything else.  Might be even more so at a younger age.
Anyway, glad you're doing better.  Relax and take it easy for a while...lots of small caliber shootin' will help.  I'll be thinkin' bout ya.  Walt  ;D
