Off to Iraq
« on: December 24, 2008, 06:01:02 AM »
Fellow Handi-files,

I will be flying to Iraq on the 6th of Jan and just wanted to wish you all a Merry CHRISTmas and a wonderful New Year.

Thank you to all who dumbed-it down for me and for all the information I have come across. I will be slowing down my Computer time for a while to take advantage of the next two weeks to be with my family.

I will try and log in from time to time (depending on my connectivity in the sandbox).

Take care of you and yours!

Shooter

PS I am a retired Military man, so this is not my first Rodeo. Thank you all in advance for the well-wishes!

Seems no one else is nosey enough to ask:  since you'r a retired military man, what's the purpose of your trip and how long are you going to be gone.  Where are you going to be?
Regardless, be safe, take care and God Bless.

I'll second Butler Ford's question; whether you are there as a GI or civilian, keep your head down and stay safe.

Thanks Slug, for clarifying.

I started working for the Army as a Contractor while I was in the process of retiring. After 20 years of active duty, I realized that I probably could not function without it (Military) in my life. I have been retired over five years now and have deployed several times. i guess i like the structure the military offers and I love serving with other soldiers. Even some of us older dogs can help these younger ones better prepare to guard the yard.

As for what i will be doing over there...simple. I am a Communications Engineer specializing in Tactical Communications...satellites and such. Either way I love what I do and those I do it for. It truly is my honor to be among all of them.

Thank you all for your support.

Fellow Handi Faithfuls,

I am alive & well at Camp Slayer Baghdad, Iraq. As hoped for, it's pretty quiet around here...just doing my time and waiting for the time when I am posting from Ft Living Room once again.

Life here is calm, I have shelter, food & some of the finest soldiers in the world as company...I  couldn't ask for more.

Thank you all for the well-wishes and I will keep you all posted of my whereabouts.

May God bless and keep you all in His good graces!
