Hahaha???   They are factory. Are factory Barrels not any good?

Is the joke on me? Did i make a mistake in ordering a factory barrel?

I hope they shoot well.

TNSCOOTER-

Don't believe all of the hype surrounding custom barrels.  I just ordered the same 223 barrel from Ed that you just did and I am very satisfied with the way it shoots.  The best thing about it is, it shoots the 55 gr. winchester white box ammo (~$9/50) better than anything else I've tried.

Best of luck with the barrel, I'm sure she'll shoot just fine.

wasnt making fun of the fact you bought factory, I a just a happy guy, sometimes it gets me in trouble....I read lots of bad stuff about factory, but most of mine shoot just fine....I just aquired one from the TC Custom Shop to try...people act like I wasted my money, but I took it to the range, and it shoots fine....didnt mean to give offense........WW1

Hey, Im just excited about getting the .223 set up so i can go after some yotes.I ordered the 300 win mag because of an Antelope hunt im going on in Wyoming but i think i will have to try it out on some deer before then.

Im really getting into the Encore.I purchased the 50x209 because of muzz hunting but soon found out the gun could be much more than just that.

Now if i can just find a way to disquise the delivery man so my wife wont see them barrels come in....

Dont worry , In my opinion there are very few shooters who will really see the difference between a custom and factory barrel as far as accuracy goes . My factory barrel in .223 puts five handloaded shots sub 1/2 MOA and I figure thats plenty good enough for any yote I have ever seen, I use it on a regular basis to take antelope Squirril (large adult is 6 oz) at distances to 250 yards !!
Some of these guys have to find reason to justify the added exspense of the custom barrel.
The encore is a hunting rifle , I have never seen one at a bench rest shoot because they arent competitve but they a great hunting rifle . I have only seen a bench gun on a yote hunt once , aint made for it.

Just put a wig and a dress on the delivery guy and tell the wife it's your girlfriend. It might be easier than telling her you got two new barrels.    :-D  :)  But dont forget to duck anyway.

just me again......Quicksdraw you are right to a point....it seems now I read more and more about 2" groups being fine for hunting.....that may be but it does something to your head, if you can keep your hunting rifle under an inch at 100...I know personally if I cant keep an inch or better after playing with it and doing everything I can think of, it goes down the road....I am new to TC's only about a year, and yes would like to try a custom, just for kicks....like you I feel most of the factory barrels are much better now than maybe they were a few years ago...I know the cal 223 had a really bad rep a few years back....but as I said I had a 26" 223 heavy barrel, and now I have a 24" heavy from the TC Custom Shop...they both shot fine......still to me it all comes down to a small group...if I can do that with my rifle, my confidense is much better on a 300yard shot...hahha...guess I should get off the soap box before people dont stop by where I am...TNSCOOTER just ignore most of what you hear and enjoy...only thing I like better than buying new stuff, is helping you spend your money....hahaha....WW1

WW1 Brings up some VERY good points . The mental part of hunting is very important .  I have a NEF with a bull barrel in .223 and its 5 shot groups at 100 yards  there are 3 shots touching but a group of about 1 1/4 inches . My encore shoots consitant groups well under MOA and you can guess witch one I use for the tiny squirrils . dosent matter wich rifle I use on yotes.
The 3rd load I tried in mine was excellent and I havent strayed far from it . blc-2 powder and a 50 grain v-max seated .030 off the lands.
