A couple of weeks ago, I stopped in a gunshop and saw that they had a bunch of used Remington pump and auto rifles. I went back today, after taking my wife's car to two shops. The first one was to get the last trim pieces put on the grill after she killed a deer with it. Then I drove it Saturday and it was shaking and loud. She then admitted she had run over another deer. I then took it to a second shop to see what she did to the undercarriage. Fortunately, it was just something loose in the exhaust system, and was fixed in less than an hour. I was about halfway to the gunshop, so I went the rest of the way to see if they had any of the Remingtons left. On the way, I had to stop twice to let deer get out of the road. I figured I had been given a sign. After looking over some 740's, 742's, a 74, and some 760's. I settled on a 740 in 30-06. It had nice wood, a Nikon Prostaff scope, and just felt right in my hand. All for $325. Now I may have to go back to the shop and have the moonroof taken out, so I can try to prevent another deer-car collision.
