Just a reminder
« on: April 23, 2008, 01:39:38 PM »
I kind of got screwed last year. READ YOUR APPLICATION! The park I usually hunt in Johnson county was made a special hunt area and I couldn't hunt it last year. I've been hunting there opening day for years and just took it for granted I could use my Johnson county tags there.

It was pretty cool, they would have a drawing at 4:30 and would only let 20 hunters in the park. After a while you got to see the same people every year, kind of like the check in stations were. I miss them too.

I know what you are saying GRIMJIM...There is still some comaderi around here even though it happened at the unloading dock of the meat packing plant.hahaha
Bad part was that 2007 was the first year that I had not received a pin in 26 years. I guess that I could have got one of these but I am getting too cranky to put up with the mail order thing.
Sad part is that I have decent hand drawn maps of five different areas I have hunted over these years. A kill is recorded on the map via penciling in the year taken and placing a circle around it. Foot notes at the bottom
cover the sex, weight, yardage, along with how the deer reacted to the shot and how far it traveled.
This might seem to be redundant, but it is amazing that I can look at these years and descriptions and usually get a very clear mental picture of the said deer up to the point of taking the shot.

You don't have to send in for a pin, you can get them at sporting goods stores or walmart. Most places want to see a registration number from your call in, others don't even ask for that.

They charge for the pins now, don't they?

No charge, but like I said you have to give them the number that you get when you call in. I just had my tag off the deer when I got it home.
